    Hi all,

Just finishing up design of bed bars that will allow an awning to be mounted and used at the correct height.

    Here's the deal...
You will get our prototype bed bars with awning mounts for no cost if you get the awning from us. We currently use Overland Pros awnings and tents on our trailers. If you have an awning already, AND we can use it, we will charge our material costs.
In return, we are looking for someone active on this site and/or others to do a photo write up. Any gen Tacoma is fine, the more built the better. Would like to see a member who has done some previous write-ups. ETA goal is about 4-5 weeks.

We're currently building our first topper as well for a Gen2. We'll be sure to get that up here ASAP too!

We are located in Auburn CA. Feel free to post here, DM, IG, or shoot an email thru our website.

If this is not the best location for this post please move or let me know.

    Thanks
    Scott

The bars are currently approx 8.5 inches tall. I will be happy to share some screenshots of the CAD. We're certainly open to making them shorter or taller initially.

Sorry I should have gave a better intro.

We are FORT Campers. We started building off road campers a couple years ago and completed testing on our prototype this last summer. We are finishing up the first two production units and they are available for sale. We have been a metal fab shop for many years and trying to get some cool products out. You can check out our website in my signature. The bed bars are unique in the fact that we can attach an awning that will be at or below the tent height when travelling, then extend up to provide appropriate height when deployed.

Please feel free to ask me anything about our products. More than happy to chat!

I wish I could, but I have a camper shell. It has Yakima rails built in but I haven’t added cross bars yet.

Here is a screenshot of the rack. The platform on the end is where the mount for the awning will go. And yes I know the far side is backwards, just added for this shot.

If you still need help I can possibly lend a hand. I am in Reno I do a lot of drone stuff, still photography and promotional videos for a MT based overland supply company. I don't need the bed rack or awning, But if you wanna throw it on and we can go shoot some cool stuff, we can do that too.

Is this intended to go at the front of the bed like a headache rack?

Will that split the awning 50/50 to cover bedside/cabside area?

Will the awning mounting points be only at it's center?

How wide is the mounting bracket?

How does the bracket flip up to change the height?

Which "bars" are 8.5" tall? The whole crossbar or a portion of it? Does it cover the rear window visibility/functionality?

Any crude hand sketches or mockups on the vehicle so all of the questions you're about to get will be answered off the jump?

    Thank you!

I responded to questions in the quote.

Please keep asking questions. We aren't reinventing the wheel and our products look very similar to others. What we are bringing are the awning option and just another manufacturer.

    Thanks
    Scott

Unfortunately won't work with a topper.
