Why did you choose Prerunner (or 2WD) over 4x4?

Curious as to others rationale. I am sure there is a thread floating around here somewhere regarding this topic, but I'm starting another one anyway. Please state:

    Year/Model:
    Location:
    Driving habits:
Main reason for 2wd: (money, need, gas mileage, that's all the dealer had etc.......)

    I'll start

Year/Model: 2013 Prerunner DCSB TRD Off Road

    Location: Bay Area, CA

Driving habits: Mostly highway (DD), some fireroad and gravel. Minimal trail.

Main reason for 2wd: don't need 4x4. Less weight/parts to break. May regret it someday if my driving habits change drastically or I move to where I absolutely need 4x4, in that case I'd prob sell and get something else, but am perfectly content for now.

    Year/Model: 2015 Prerunner DCSB Sr5

Main reason for 2wd: Don't need 4wd. Maybe down the road in 3 years.

Needed a work truck with some offroad capability but no heavy offroading. Mainly dirt roads, the beach, ect., but mostly highway. We don't have snow here so 4x4 was not really needed. I'm happy with my choice. The truck payments were smaller, fuel economy better, less maintenance. Most of all, I plan on keeping this one forever. A 4x4 I would probably be tempted to beat it to hell and sell it when the repairs got too expensive.

Main reason for 2wd: Wouldn't use 4x4 enough, slightly better gas mileage, cheaper insurance, and wide variety of lift options!

Better to have it and not need it than not having it when you do need it. These trucks are just way to light in the rear to not have 4 wheel drive.

These trucks are like golf clubs, you can have a very nice set from the begining or get a average set and upgrade by adding and replace a club or two or three but you still play like shit if you don't play enough no matter what you got in your bag, and for some reason I still want a 4x4, guess I'll never learn.

Main reason for 2wd: My 04 was 4x4 and I hadn't really used it that much in the last few years. Only really used it to drive on the beach and can't drive on beach where I live now. Don't do any serious off road just some out of the way surf and fishing spots but nothing crazy. I do feel a bit weird not having it but so far hasn't been a factor. Haven't been stuck yet. Who knows it may get traded down the road.

Main reason for 2wd: Being in College 2wd are cheaper and easier to get in lower milages. Even with being so light a good pair of at tires keep me from sliding in the rain also if I want to go any major off road I'll just get an arb air locker.

My first taco was a 2014 DCLB prerunner. I traded it about a year later for a 15 TRD OR access cab 4x4. I needed the 4wd a few times with the prerunner, now I have fixed my issues LOL (not really all my issues, but......)

2014 2.7L DCSB PRERUNNER, purchased for cheaper insurance, no need for 4x4 since I live in flat ass Florida, I don't tow so I didn't need the power of a V6, and wanted a dependable, reliable truck and based on this particular engine, it's longevity is proven over and over. Yes sometimes I wish I had a 4x4 and a v6, but really it would only be for bragging rights nothing more, so I'm happy and content with what I have now.

Bragging rights isn't the only reason for the V6 !

4x4 because I wanted it. I never really use it but the Times I have used it justified it.

I was in the EM striker program when I joined on the Walnut. Got tired of watching my buddies go on liberty while I stayed back to chase grounds. Switched to deck force and surfed my brains out! Last unit was Sta Lake Worth Inlet
