Grey wire MOD, deck plate, diff breather MOD, 2nd gen. OME 883# on Tundra 5100's, OMD custom 3" leafsprings, rear shock relocation, Ivan Stewart TRD rims w/285/75/16's, '02 bumper MOD, Famous Fabrications sliders , LED interior/exterior lights, bed bar, Custom tube bumper, Old school KC day lighters,Red Ring 8" HID flood, Kenwood vhf 2M.. umm some other shit I'm forgetting right now
I have had a few 4x4's , my first one was a 72' Dodge Power Wagon which was 100% stock, 3/4 ton long bed with a 360. I installed a first generation Rancho suspenstion lift 4" w/ 8 Gabriel racing "E's" along with some Cepeck 38.5" monster mudders . This truck was a beast to say the least but it ate U joints like no tomorrow, had to buy them by the 6 pack, my second truck was a 73' F 250 that was outfitted much like the Dodge. Although these trucks off roaded pretty well, they lacked what I was looking for, performance & agility. The third 4x was a 68' Kaiser built jeep CJ5 w/ Buick V6 and a posi rear end w/ over drive. now it was agile enough but it was one squirrely S.O.B. on or off road I never felt safe in the damned thing. A friend of mine had just bought a 1983 Toyota SR5 4x4 (straight axle) & I laughed & joked about what a waste of money it was to buy this pile of "jap crap" (no offense) So my buddy said that "We'll take it out this weekend & see if we can destroy it." Well that weekend all the laughing & joking stopped as this little 4 banger tin can did circles around every other 4x4 we encountered, whether it was uphill , down hill, on the side of a hill, whatever, hell we even yanked a full size Ford out of a muddy rut much to his embarrasement, this was in the Corral canyon area of San Diego's east county and for anyone here that is familiar to this area they know that this place can be a truck eater. I was so impressed with this little "Toy's" performance for a month I bugged my friend about buying his truck & to his refusal I hunted down my own. Now I have a 2000 Tacoma ex. cab TRD w/ all the goodies & a better truck cannot be found in my opinion. And if this one ever wears out I'll get another one , you can believe that.... Thats my reason, whats yours ??

Toyota is number 1 in the world and I was never an american car person.. Coming from a BMW and a Mini.. Plus, just look at the Tacomas.. Badass.. American trucks I think look like they pucked on their own grills and put that into production.

    Welcome to TW!

I wanted a truck that would last for a long long time. I love the look of the prerunners.

My 05 has 121,400 miles & still going strong. No problems.:D

I had a 2003 tacoma before this one. It was a little small for my needs. So in 05 I traded it & they gave me $2500 more than I owed. Wow! What great resale value. Now my 05 is paid for & it has a loan value of $11,550, Retail value of $15,000. Not including my upgrades.

I'm so much brand loyal as am perfomance loyal. I have owned good ones of all brands-chevy,dodge,toyota,nissan and ford.
For the bigger trucks in diesel form
    Dodge- best of the best
    Ford close 2nd
In gas engines- Ford, Chevy, Dodge
Above is considered 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks.
1/2 ton- my yota 01 Tundra was tops
    Little trucks, what can I say- I love tacos. I did have a s-10 .1987 model with a 2.8 v6 that i

    None.... ....Yet!
Toyota picked me, kind of. My first Toyota was a T100 with 470,000 miles on it. I was looking for a winter beater to drive when I couldn't ride my motorcycle. This was in the paper and I was the second to call on it and the first to look at it. It needed brakes and an alternator. I paid a $1000 for it and it never let me down. I ended up having to replace the radiator recently but thats it for repairs other than maintenance stuff. When the chance came to upgrade to a Tacoma ( and 4WD!) I jumped at it! I am normally a European car guy. I love Audi's but they are pricey to work on. Fast as shit no matter what the weather. VW's are the same. I found when I had my T100 I tended to drive slower and thus avoid the prying eyes of the local constabulary. My bike is way faster than I will ever need so it makes sense to have something very capable in winter that is maybe not so fast.

my dads a huge consumer reports reader and is very inquisitive of how things hold up, so when i was looking for a truck i knew that for some reason japan makes more reliable vehicles: i was looking at a tacoma, xterra, ridgeline.. really wanted a xterra until i drove the tacoma, that was it bought it that night... had driven a few xterras too

Found an '89 V6 DLX 4x4 truck for $7500 back in '93 that was a salvage title. Owned that for a year and a half, sold it for $7500 then. Regretted selling that truck, it never gave me any issues for being a salvage title. Got a couple more salvage title Tacomas (I knew a dealer who sometimes had them), a '96 ext. cab V6 4x4, which wasn't so great, traded it for a '98 5spd reg cab 4x4 4-banger which was a good truck. Sold that also. Few years back, found an '88 4x4 reg cab for $2000. Got that, fixed it up (4Runner seats, rebuilt the 5-spd tranny, new carpet, some body work), then decided it was too small. That's when I found the current '02 Tacoma. The original owner had it on Autotrader, it had 19400 miles, was 3 years old, he said he never drove it. I went to look at it, gave him a deposit on the spot, knew that if I went home to think about it, it would be gone in a few hours...have had it ever since 2005 when I bought it.

So this is my 5th Toyota truck, wouldn't even look at anything else. Got a Rav4 for my wife.

I have owned pretty much ford trucks for the last 20 years. With their refusal to make a 4 door small 4x4 pickup, I had to go toyota. I always had that vision of driving my good friends 1989 4 cylinder toyota pickup underwater and it didn't skip a beat. Although I can't imagine the new ones would stand up to that with all the computer gizmos in it.
