What '07 Mercedes gets 54 mpg?

Highest EPA rated '13 Mercedes is 33 highway.

E350 = 22/32 mpg EPA. Not saying 54 isn't possible but is that a short trip or a whole tank?

It's roughly 300 miles one way, and he goes up and come home using roughly 12 gallons for the trip.

Toyota will have one soon. The Cummins/ Nissan Titan will force them to respond.

When it comes right down to actually purchasing a diesel I think you'll find only about 20% of buyers will purchase the diesel. They may talk about it and get all giddy about it, but it's just pre-ejaculation. They'll realize what a nuisance they are overall.

Don't have the patience to read all of this thread, but look up Gale Banks engineering. That's diesel done right. No coal rolling, 1250+ ft-lbs of torque from Cummins or duramax.

Short oil change intervals, that greasy fuel you have to put in, the fuel handles generally you have to put a latex glove on since the handle is greasy and stinks. High fuel costs, hard starting in cold weather, little things like that add up. Like I said, there won't be a big segment of buyers that will end up buying a diesel.

Because they make them already. And the torque is where wheelers and truck guys need it most, down low. Towing, climbing a grade, or wheeling, that torque is why everyone wants one. And they already make the pick'n things.
