4motion? Not a chance. I own three AWD Volkswagens. I bought a Tacoma for the simplicity and reliability. The Amarok has zero chance in the North American market.

everyone just wants want they cant have, and others seem to jump on the band wagon in some of the threads when they really don't know much about diesels

There are some things gas is better for but it would be cool to roll coal while mowing the lawn.

I drive diesels at work, some gas ones too, drove diesels when I was working on a ranch. Diesels build this country, pure and simple, you don't see gas powered container ships, no gas powered dump trucks or gas powered 18 wheelers...... diesel is in the combines for harvest & the diesel truck that deliver you Tacoma. No gas powered freight trains either here. Diesel delivers better power for less displacement, diesel fuel per gallon has more energy in it.

Truth is if you haven't driven a diesel you have likely have no valid opinion, likely just a bunch of verbal engine bigotry to fall out your mouth as you envision 44" tires and 28" lift kits. Just try driving a diesel Jetta, or a 3/4 truck with a diesel. 7000lb truck that can get 22 mpg easy. Just tow a trailer, none of the bravado, just a nice truck.

Why not to drive one? You might not like the $6000 price tag to get in them, some are less. Don't drive one if you have a narrow mind and think all diesel drivers are rednecks with 65" tires, even though you see 100s stock. don't drive one if you like 18 mpg or less, when you could be getting 22mpg.

ps had a 2500 Silverado stock , 24 mpg at times on the freeway. The engine and trans were fine , the rest of the quality was not.

If you got the chance to drive a 3L range diesel in a Tacoma, you likely wouldn't need to ask why a diesel, you would ask WTF they keep that from us for!

:yay::cheers: there the answer I wanted... diesel is my hero.. rather have that oil burner under the damn hood in chevy or taco.. with the taco I would keep taco running until 300,000 miles until the damn thing dies.

Agreed. Though emissions systems are adding on probably a good 10K $ in extra cost and strangling the mileage of these late model diesels. Still, nothing like the torque of a diesel, and I agree that probably the majority of the people who don't understand diesel have likely had very little to no experience behind the wheel of a modern diesel. Outdated preconceptions, lack of understanding/experience.
