I wouldn't say I have a huge boner for diesel, but it's at least a chub. My reason is since I don't tow heavy ie: small trailers, atvs, household goods, I would like to get better mileage and have that low end torque when I do tow. Plus who doesn't like that turbo whistle? Uh oh something's happening......

i love diesel! I got a 2012 VW Passat thats TDI VW diesel.. 2.0 L.. pretty nice when i can drive from southern Wisconsin to almost the north metro of Atlanta on one tank of diesel without having to stop to fill up along the way.

I also recently acquired a 1994 Toyota Pickup DLX 4x4 with a shot 2.4L motor in it. I am going to do a 1.9L VW TDI swap out of a 1996-1999 VW jetta tdi. once im done with upgrading the turbo, chipping the engine, better injector nozzles, chipped to stage 3.5 (custom malone tune), 3 Bar Map sensor, and a stage 1 toyota specifc HD plate clutch..

ill get about roughly 154-160 hp and about 273-289 ft/lb torque ..

I have no idea why I even looked at this thread and normally I would just roll my eyes, think to myself "silly boy", and move on, but tonight I have to admit, YOU MADE ME LAUGH . Thank you .

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
does everyone in fact have a "huge" boner?

or would some have a micro boner?

I think the 25 plus mpg, 500k rebuild and turbo have to do with that.

Don't forget the 6 digit repair bill when something gets into your fuel and everything needs to be replaced. Any savings gained in a modern emissions diesel are quickly ate up in keeping them running.

The future is small turbo charged engines. Ford seems to be the only one to have figured that out.

    I haven't :)

That is why I don't own one. Cost vs payoff is not there on most.

The hilux diesels in australia have major problems with the injectors and if they fail cost minimum $3000 to fix they do get heaps better Ks per tank
my V6 gets 8.2ks per litre and a 3.0 D4D GET 11.8 Ks per litre

Well thats better than the 7500 or more for the injector problem on diesel trucks here. If toyota brought one here I would get it. And I would get the 125 extended warranty and be very careful where I got fuel etc.

    I would love a 70 series pickup. :(

Me driving 774 miles on 16 gallons in a full size car in my vw passat and at times can average 50 mpg or better and being able to make it from Southern wisconsin to northern georgia without stopping to fill up says otherwise @$$ hat

I second that. My wife's Jetta TDI getting 40mpg in combined city/highway driving is epic.

Diesel engines are superior in almost every category to gas engines, that's why. US and Canada are pretty much the only countries left that still use gas engines. Everywhere else is diesel, that should answer your question.

Diesels lack cognative thought process, therefore cannot not be measured on any scale of intellegence.

This is pretty accurate. Every time I have been out of our GREAT country. Germany, France, Italy and even Bosnia/Croatia you are very hard pressed to see a gasoline vehicle. Even the goofy looking cars and trucks were diesel. Must be something to it?
Wait... Edit... those crazy bastards on scooters in Rome were insane but I think gasoline powered. Could be wrong. (AGAIN) :)

Having lived in Germany for most my life, including my driving life, Diesel engines are what is the norm there now. That same goes for pretty much the rest of Europe.

I started out on a Golf MK4 with a 1.4l gas engine. WORST. RIDE. EVER. Then I got a Polo 1.4l TDI which was a HUGE change of power.

Diesels were great before they started the emission stuff. Now its a time bomb waiting to explode and cost you money.

That's why my diesel is a 1997 7.3, none of that emissions crap at all. They are known as the million mile diesel for a reason. You spend more money replacing rear ends and transmissions in a 7.3 Powerstroke than anything on the engine itself.

30% better fuel economy, much more low end torque just where it's needed the most. Got to ask your self "how come all big things are diesel"?
