That's the catch, I bet not. Most who want one I think would, if it was a $4000 option or less.

I would expect a $4k option for diesel and that's what I would pay for a turbo 4.

Right now my taco weights 4800lbs. After sas, shell, more armor, rtt, lighting, etc etc ill probably be pushing 6000lbs. Im not about to try and use a gas truck to try and pull that 500 miles to moab. not only that, i get a great deal on cummins stuff through work so it'll work out when i finally pull the trigger.

"""""Agreed. Though emissions systems are adding on probably a good 10K $ in extra cost and strangling the mileage of these late model diesels. Still, nothing like the torque of a diesel, and I agree that probably the majority of the people who don't understand diesel have likely had very little to no experience behind the wheel of a modern diesel. Outdated preconceptions, lack of understanding/experience"""""""

Exactly why "timing" is everything...Now that gas is only 2-3 cents off the price of diesel..interest might "ramp up"....VW has always been there just like 'Benz....

And try 7-12 grand for emissions this next "Obama round"...Boss just priced 2014's and the "up charge" starts at 9 grand for us PER TRUCK...so even halving that for "Lil trucks " is OUCH...

Black smoke is GONE unless you "Hill billy" the pump and then destroy it...my Macks exhaust is as clean now as when we took delivery 90,000 miles ago..;) and my fuel mileage is up, not down...only extra expense is DEF Fluid...

I drive a 2010 Peterbilt, 2010 F550 Crew Cab Lariat, and a pair of 2006 GMC 2500 HDs regularly and all are diesel autos (Pete is push button auto day cab). All have utility beds, the 550 with a 12 ft.

All beat the 11mpg 2012 2500 HD GMC gas box van. Run better, last longer and way better mpg with heavy loads and long days on the road.

We're running 11L Cummins in 2 stripers, 2 Powerstroke 350s, 2 5.9 Cummins step vans and some 5.9L cummins flatbeds just in the work unit i'm in.

Too bad emissions split 8600 lb and up with less emissions, and 8600lb and below with more, that might be the biggest hang-up for us getting to enjoy the benefits of a diesel.

Agreed! The real bitch is the Pete which pretty much will be no use once it's paid for. But the next one is only $120k!

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I think the end all, be all to all these diesel threads should point to...

    www.dieseltoys.com

They will convert a 2nd Gen (among other vehicles) to a 1KD-FTV diesel. $25,000.
