Why doesn’t anyone make a modular system for large toolboxes for bed?

I find that I always tend to throw things in the back seat of my truck and I have a ton of space in the bed that I don’t use. I want something that is easy to take in and out. Can be somewhat water resistant, can be lockable, etc. I was just strapping large Husky rolling tool tote boxes down, but they are kind of a pain to take in and out. The decked thing doesn’t work great for me, I’d rather not have to open the gate to get to the stuff and don’t want to put my dirt bike that high up. I don’t like the large boxes or metal tool boxes that go directly behind the cab, because they are hard to get to, and the ones that are easy to get to, you can’t really use a bed cover.

So I built my own. I bought a bed divider and modified it and added some brackets and now I can put large Ridgid branded tool boxes in there.

i just got done, but I’ll have 2 side by side with some tools, jumpers, etc. and then I’ll have another set of boxes I use for my Kart racing supplies and tools. So I will have 2-3 sets with different supplies and tools in them and just pull them in and out depending on what I need at the time

maybe no one has done something similar because it isn’t an overlanding type product?

anyway. I’m almost done with the project. A couple pics of it in place with box attached, not attached and how it will look with 2 ridgids side by side.

Hell. Every Milwaukee fan reminds me of a damn Glock fan boy. Like there is nothing else.

so ya, I looked into packout too. I didn’t want to install something on the floor of the bed, a bunch of cheesy plastic Lego pieces. No thanks

So you want a bed divider that has modular storage?

So you want modular storage but "no, not that one. No, not that one either"?

I'm glad you found the solution that works for you.

I have Packouts without the floor plate. They sit directly on the OEM bed mat and don't move around at all. Hell. I loved Legos as a kid so why not?

ya I’ve done that. Not stable enough.

The modulation adds to the functionality. Because then I can stack them and roll them to our pits and roll them back. More organized than just a large box and don’t have to strap down

I mean, I get it, I modularize everything. I use this binto system to quickly transfer wardrobe and pantry between truck and camper. I use other solutions for hauling tools and groceries. Everyone has their favorite containers that work for their tasks. :cookiemonster:

A load bar (about $20 at HD) is an easy, quick, and relatively inexpensive starting point.IMG_1170.jpg

Ya. I looked into that. Pretty slick if I were to want smaller containers and didn’t mind opening the gate every time.

the problem with the large Milwaukee bottom unit for me is that handle doesn’t remove, along with the wheels and that takes up space and I don’t think you can use those flat base mounts on the bottom of a Milwaukee. The ridgid 2.0, one can buy the large size box with it without the wheels and handle and they can be mounted.

considered that too. But again, I wanted something that was at the gate not behind the cab, so I could quickly get what ever I need. For example, I have a part time job where I go to peoples homes and do home health physical therapy, so I drive house to house. Depending on the patient and what I am doing (paperwork with a computer and forms, etc or weights and bands for other patients, etc.) I have 2 bags depending on what I am doing and I will also take stuff in and out of bags. So I want it quick.

then when I do more recreational activities, my race kart gear, or moto gear or just taking truck off road, I can have different boxes mounted in my garage wall and grab the ones I am using and switch them out fairly quickly. I’ve got 4 of the large boxes so far, may have to get a couple more

look fairly useless for my needs. If anything the swing boxes that go over the wheel well look like a decent option though.
