You forgot a period there. Plus you are not supposed to capitalize manual. All that person needed were a few periods thrown in there, like you. Punctuation police.

This doesn’t feel like a smart key problem. It actually feels like the opposite to me.

Chance of leaving the key in the car when you never have to take it out of your pocket and are audibly notified if you try to lock the vehicle with the key inside.

But I suppose that depends on an individuals personal habits.

It is not really rocket science to park a manual either...but I expect every rocket scientist would frown on the habit of leaving a car parked in neutral relying only on the handbrake to keep it from rolling into traffic.

Our house came with a similar lock. The previous owners neglected to leave the programming interface and we didn't have the code. Friend of mine had one so he told me the codes are on a sticker inside. I took it apart to get the codes. Then the batteries died, took it apart again to replace the batteries, it has a 9 volt battery and some AAA batteries that are hidden, I missed them the first time. When I lock the thing I wait until it times out to be sure it's locked, can't trust digital stuff.
I carry the house key so I can get in in case the electronic thing fails, and I still need my mailbox key, it's not going digital.
All in all the thing is a waste of time and money, I'd prefer an old fashioned deadbolt.
    Damn snowflake push buttons.
It's more high tech deterioration of our country like automatic transmissions.

To me push button start is like having keyless entry (remote that has unlock button). I'm sure you guys don't use the key to unlock the door, when there is a button on your remote. It's a matter of convenience.

If you guys are so tough should just remove every button inside the truck for analog switches and also remove those power windows and power steering. All that stuff is for wussies.

I’m sure you could find some rocket scientists that would frown on the practice, but it is the accepted method for parking a manual transmission by most manufacturers and driving instructors, moreso in countries where vehicles don’t require a clutch start switch I would suspect.

I’ve seen what can happen when someone starts a car in gear without pushing the clutch. It can be quite dangerous.

The parking brake is much stronger than the engine’s compression. But of course, redundancy is always nice, so I can understand the habit of also putting it in gear, even Toyota recommends doing so if on a steep incline.

Honestly as long as you always use the park brake, and think about putting it in gear, I think you’ll be fine. Nobody should be only putting it in gear without setting the park brake though, ever. That’s a dangerous habit.

    Park brake only = Good
Park brake and in gear = Better
    In gear only = Never

Not a rocket scientist, but that’s what I’m sticking with.

(PS: Everyone should also get in the habit of always using their park brake with an automatic transmission too.)

This is why there's a "clutch switch", and additionally a "clutch switch cancel" button.

I used to think the push to start buttons were silly, until I got a car with one. Good lord it's convenient, especially when paired with the keypad house dead bolt above.

Whatever gets you through the night but this statement, "...but it is the accepted method for parking a manual transmission by most manufacturers..." is FAKE NEWS.

This manual transmission stuff cracks me up. Very entertaining during a slow day at work. I can't figure out the psychological aspect of it though. Control, ego, or something else?
