it's just more electronics that will fail and cost a lot of $$ accumulatively before the truck is a decade old...

That would be accurate if Tacomas were built by GM

This may be a little off topic but does anyone know if the 2023 Toyota Tacoma with the manual transmission will have push button start?

It's exactly the same as the 2022 so... did the 2022s have it?

Gotcha. The reason I was asking is because for 2023 Toyota is bringing push button start to The SR5 trim. Didn’t know if they made the same decision for the manual trans trucks.

    This isn't a 90's GM product...

I want to add, I've seen the manual sliding driver's seat break on a 96 Lumina minivan at only 6 years.

Keyless entry and start is mandatory. I don’t care what the start procedure is, just so long as I don’t have to fish out the keys. They could replace the push button with an ignition switch shaped like a key. And I’d be just fine with it as long as I didn’t have to fumble with my keys.

I like the push button in mine, but I get people wanting the option for a key (I compare it to wanting a manual). They know the customers behind the truck, give them the option at the very least.

I won't buy the higher trims because they all come with push start. I sold my 2021 SR5 in December and was waiting to see what Toyota was going to do with the 2023 models. After I heard all V6 Tacomas were now going to come with push start I went and bought a 2022. Looks like I will keep this one for the long haul.

we had a brand new fully loaded 2016 honda minivan. most of the gadgetry crapped out when it was 4 years old with 100k miles.

it's a Honda, so im sure it will run forever, but the fkin $15,00 extras pkg was a waste of money...

also had a 2008 Avalon fully loaded. all those gadgets crapped out too. and weren't worth fixing.

I have not seen a rear parking sensor, thread lately, but those seem to fail. I think it was mostly due to getting dirty.

I can operate a button or key just fine. I could probably push a button and turn a key at the same time.

But, would you manage to keep your foot on the brake pedal also?

On top of that would you remember where you parked the car?

I don't know about keeping my foot on the break. The key and button at the same time would would probably depend on the placement of both the ignition and the key.

I think the button would have to be on the left of the wheel and the ignition in the traditonal location to the right on the column.

Even with out the button added to the mix, I don't know if the ingnition being on the left of the column would be doable, I don't know if my left hand could figure it out.

We know this, but doing that everytime you lock the car is more inconvenient than just having a key.

I also think that procedure is a security concern because if you do it wrong (let go of the lock button), you have now unlocked your car. At close ranges you would notice this, but from behind a wall you might not.

True, However if you unlock the car and don't open a door it will lock itself after x seconds any ways.

TBH I could do without the touch door handle feature. It would be nice to be able to turn it off completely but keep the push to start. I'm typically going to the tailgate first so I'm usually opening via key fob buttons anyway.
