Yep! Every system has there plus and minus. Toyota push starts all comes with a key. To open the doors. If the key fob battery is dead (they do die) just place the key fob “logo” next to the start button, dash will light up, push the start button and the way you go. Fobs battery CR2016 - 6hrs. Or CR2032 -10 hrs.

Costco - sells the CR2032 12 pack for $7.99. Duracells. (10 year) Best deal any where!

Some one mention there fob battery for the a Tacoma lasted only 2 years. My son’s 2016 had to replace fob battery ,two times, since he brought it new. No harm in replacing the battery more often.

Caveman use “rocks” for wars, needed to carry lots of rocks, when the gun was invented, they needed bullets, ran out of bullets? Use “rocks”. Run out of rocks, run fast!

Every change we go though? There is a plus and minus.

The first bicycle had one speed, today over 21 speeds, forget the keys? Lock out of the house. I like push button house locks.

The security on the Tacoma's push button start is laughable, once or twice a month someone is on here talking about how there push button start truck was stolen from there driveway. Some people are saying that turning off the fob or getting a faraday bag will solve this, but even with those precautions a new fob can still be programed with access to the OBDII port, it just takes longer. Don't really think there is anything wrong with the idea though, just the current implementation is quite poor. I wouldn't get one until the security is much better.

Turns out too many speeds was a terrible idea, so my newfangled bicycle only has 12.

A lot of innovation for the sake of innovation is just crap.

Push buttons or not? Thieves want it will take it. Sure some cars are easier to steal then others.
Before push button starts we’re ever use? Cars got stolen too.

That is why people recommends your borrow your friends truck, they steal it ! No lost to you. Just the friend.

You wanted to know why people don't like push button start and the current lack of security is a big concern for many people. Yes if thieves want it they can get it, but with that rational why not just leave the fob in it, unlocked and post on facebook were your parked it? Just because thieves can get it doesn't mean you should make it easy for them.

Ravelco Anti-thief security system is something to consider? But there is NO full proof system any where.
Not sure if my island of Hawaii can get the Ravelco installed?

Praying they steal the neighbors car instead , may help?

The push button starts are here to stay. Sure manufacturers will continue to sell cars/ trucks with keys , because people want a key.

Pick-up trucks with two doors was the norm. Today the 4-door trucks out sells the two door models. People change. Four door trucks are stolen more then two doors. Should you buy the two door? Push button or key?

Spend $649 for increased security? Maybe get increased security for free by getting a key and not keyless start, may help?

You don't have to take your phone out. It works just like a proximity key fob and connects via bluetooth allowing you to unlock the doors and start the car with your phone in your pocket. No cell service is needed for this to work.

The Lincoln system is pretty cool and that even if your phone is dead you can just enter a code into the keypad on the door and get to start the car. There's also a key backup for the door if the car battery is dead.

My truck beeps and warns you the second the fob leaves the vehicle and it's running. There is no way you can start the car and then remove the fob, drive away and miss the warning. It annoyingly beeps and comes up on the center screen the fob isn't detected.

Nothing wrong with preferring a key but the newer systems are well thought-out and address most issues a person can run into.

well, there were all the people that were getting killed/maimed by the motor backfiring while trying to start with a crank...

my choice is battery power so i can stay somewhat clear of the spinny parts. i just don't care for the computer involvement in the simple starting process.

Pretty much this. People too excited about “innovation” will suddenly see a body on frame pick up truck with a leaf spring suspension and drum rear brakes mutate into something like the Honda ridgeline or Ford maverick.

Man everyone's here talking about security. Am I the only one who just transitioned from a key to a push and keeps trying to shift into reverse before the engine actually starts? That's what is a challenge for me! With a key, I have to hold it until the engine's turned over, then can immediately get into gear. With the push I just tap it and go to reverse and have stalled out a couple times o_O

I had a customer who went al out with the smart house shit, phone and voice controlled damn near all. Dont know what it was, only that he tied about $60k up in it. Lightning hit the pole outside his house, after that he could command the lights to come on and the TV would come on. LMAO That is a bit of an exaggeration, but closer to the truth than a lie.

I have never seen anyone other than a Jehovah's Witness try so hard to convince people that they are the path to righteousness as you are.
