    I always recommend to potential buyers of the Automatic to do a minimum of an Overnight Test Drive so they don't end up here creating a Thread a month later asking what's wrong with the transmission.

    I have an 017 TRD offroad, has only been back to the dealer once for the transmission update, no problems other than that. All of them aren't scrap iron, I really like mine.

    If they dropped a small V8 in the tacoma or supercharger in these 3.5L I think it would help. Also bump up the rear gear ratio on the automatic to a 4.30 might help as well. As for quality lacking, that's a much more perplexing issue.

    I've gotten away with much worse but perhaps the ice is thin enough now.
