i see all of the threads on the needle bearing fail after lift and the fix is the ecgs bushing..... BUT...........

why does it fail after lifting the vehicle?.....

the only thing that i can see that changes is the cv axle angle. i looked into that and the fix seems to be a cheap and easy spacer diff drop.

however, .....i posted on tw asking if doing the diff drop when installing the lift would avoid the needle bearing issue and the general consensus is that the diff drop would neither help nor hurt the situation but would not avoid the bearing problem.

am i missing something?.....more like what all am i missing?....haha

i'm not sure why this problem bothers me so much?.....i have my 2" / 1" lift stuff ready to go but all i can think about is getting the vibes and trying to fix it and tearing up a brand new truck when i loose the pins down in the diff gears or whatever......

anyway.... sorry for the long winded post and as always, thanks in advance

    :)

Go to the ECGS webpage the inventor explains it in a video. It has to do with how Toyota did not cast a proper pocket for the spider on the diff so there is a huge amount of play for the spindle to slop around adding a lift makes it more slop to move around in. You can tell I have no idea what I am talking about I just bought the ECGS bushing after I saw video then ECGS told me you do not need their bushing if I was buying an ARB locker for the front so I did that instead since I was going to regear to 5.29.

It can happen on stock trucks too. Lifted trucks just make the flaw more vocal.

Will a reputable shop usually have the necessary tools to remove and install the bearing and bushing? I'm going to order the bushing and seal, but I don't want to pay another $100+ for the tools if I don't need to.

One other cause. When the truck is operated with stock suspension the bearings run in. When you alter the suspension the stress is now different. This can lead to failure on any type of bearings.
