A small little Jeep that pulls out giant vehicles daily is working harder than a truck you just cruise on the highway with. That thing gets abused hard.

    Anyways, here:

This thread might make a little sense if you were comparing the gladiator to the tacoma.

An inline 6 is a superior engine design to a V6, and that legendary 4.0 I6 was a full cast iron build head and all, making it absurdly durable. Those things ran so hot it would warp the heads on an aluminum engine and the heater core output could nearly burn your feet, but because it was cast iron it didn't matter. Not to mention the absolutely ridiculous 85% of max torque at idle. Definitely one of my favorite motors, but could not keep up with evolving emissions standards.

I've got both an 07 Tacoma and a 97 4.0L TJ (at least the tub/engine/transmission are still Jeep) and they both do different things.

Jeeps suck on long road trips. The Tacoma is so much more comfortable on the way to wherever you’re going.

I'd love one of those, can take it on quad trails and no issue.

3.8L also super-underpowered, especially if paired with the 4-speed slushbox...I mean automatic!

Jeeps have a tailgate, have since the late 40's.
Sitting in my drive is a '82 CJ-8 that unless I broke it has been very reliable.
Yep, they are loud, especially with the wrong tires and if you take the doors and top off (can't do that in a stock toyota).
Death wobble is the result of idiots modifying the front suspension. It's usually done by some fool who thinks he can invent a better suspension than the engineers.

And my answer to this terrible difficult question is simple. Have both. That way I can choose the right vehicle for the current conditions.

My odometer is on the third time around, and, it didn't work for several years. I busted the cable and was too lazy to fix it. If you actually know how to drive you can use a tach and know your speed. Difficult for the young to envision.

1983 I took a stock CJ-8 over Rubicon. It isn't the kinder gentler version of today. Just know when to bypass and to always listen to your spotters. The second is the hardest thing for newbies to learn.

Actually did that on my 89 Toyota when the speedo cable broke. For the longest time I was too poor to fix it, as I had just bought a house and drove by the tach for speed.

Its a fiat chrysler product very unreliable, the reason people have them is cus they love theyre wranglers and are willingto fix them cus ther into the hobbys as opposed to someone who has a jeep liberty, the minute that Jeep Liberty blows they wont fix it as opposed to the wranglers theyre into the scene and will fix it, if you knw what youre getting youreself into and have no probz and are happy buy a jeep
