Depends if you want to do cool shit or not....

    Enjoy the asshattery

I fucking love this one...we call it no spot Saturday.

I have 105K miles on my TJ. Not going to lie...this bitch has had a pretty rough life. Only issue I have had is a never ending check engine light due to a throttle position sensor and popped a head gasket (that was my fault). Would I recommend one for daily duty? Hell no. It was fun having my TJ on 35's and street worthy at times...

    TJ3.jpg

The only way a Jeep is going long distance with me is like this...

    bl.jpg

Funny though, I wouldn't choose either for long trips...and I have owned three first gen Tacoma's, 1 second gen Tacoma, several T4R's. We have two staff members with JL's....and now I want one, but have to adult since I want an off-shore boat.

    For good measure....everyone loves kittens.

They loved running at 210. My TJ had 215K miles on it and was still a DD(with original clutch). I would honestly still have it had it not gotten rear ended at a red light. That being said, after getting the Tacoma......I would never go back to DD'ing a 2 door Wrangler

LOL, I daily drove my 04 Rubi TJ when I was in my early 20s and thought it was the best. Fast forward to house, kid, homeowner responsibilities and needing practicality, and zero chance I would own a 2 door wrangler as a daily driver today.

I bought my TJ as a 30th bday present to myself. I drove it for 9yrs. I am single and only had a dog to carry around. After having the room and comfort of the Tacoma, I just couldn't go back
Now I've never been the type that wanted all the electronic nanny crap on my vehicle, but I do like the power windows  I lost that loving feeling for Wranglers once the JK hit the market. I will always believe a Wrangler should be/have 2 doors, a metal grille, manual windows, simple, and utilitarian. The JK's had too many gubmint mandated gizmos on them for my tastes.

I think most people that dog Wranglers don't have a lot of experience with them. They were simple/easy to work on and had a shit ton of aftermarket support.

If I were a hard core off-reader, I’d definitely take a 2 door Jeep over a Tacoma. But I’m not. I camp, hunt, tow a boat, go on road trips, drive on highways, haul a little lumber and trash and take my wife places. Tacoma is better for all of that.

Funny enough that Matt of BleepinJeep YouTube channel uses a Tundra to tow his Jeeps around.

Why not a Jeep? I'm not actively fighting in WW2, or delivering the mail. Two things that make Jeeps cool. That's nice example of a Jeep you posted. You mention that both Toyota and Jeep offered a 4.0. Did Toyota offer a 4.0 to lure Jeep buyers into a Tacoma or 4Runner?

Because Toyota has the Land Cruiser.

I thought Tacoma owners were bad about putting useless stuff on their vehicle, but around here the redneck upper class is denoted by how many neon colored shackles, door handles, angry eyes, and multi colored leds you have on your Jeep. I’d say I don’t see them off-roading, but there they are with 20” rims and 1” of sidewall, full 140 psi, flooring it and skidding all around leaving the landscape looking like a smooth peanut butter sandwich.

It’s the tow capacity as well as the not having a truck bed for me.

I had a 98 (I think) Cherokee with a manual and the I6 and you didn’t need the gas pedal to get started going up a hill in high range. Very tractor-like, which I loved. Almost bought a Colorado diesel for that same reason.

Have you ever seen a Taliban war-lord in a Jeep?

Jeeps could be and were cool. They're the honda civic of the 4x4 world now. Plus there's 1000's of them every sq. mile. And they are too small. And they drive like shit. And many many other reasons why not a jeep.

I've never had so many bolts break and stripped doing a simple water pump utilizing my utmost diligence. I can't say I've damaged a single bolt on the taco.

It was a clear indication that they weren't preferable to me.

My Tundra didn’t like the Colorado Mountain passes.

Agreed. I think the guy who posted this a tiny man (jeep Jeep guys usually are) or little kid.

If I had the money I'd buy a Raptor at least it's still a truck and can haul some shit.
