She went from a JKU to a MB C300?! LoL, plot twist for sure!

Good reason for getting the Taco - longevity and reliability. Thanks!

I had an 01 Grand Cherokee. Overall it was a good vehicle. Unfortunately it needed some help to keep it going but all were minor in my opinion. Had to replace door switches and window regulators. Couple electrical issues ect. Straight 6 ran like a champ! When my wife's car dies we will consider a wrangler. I don't know if we will get one or not. Though as others have already said, be prepared to wrench on it.

My only non biased opinion, since I am not a tacoma fan boy is that I have driven quite a few jk's from stock to lifted on 35s and every single one of them feels so cramped and I hate the interior and the motors. They rev up so high and feel very weak. The only other jeep I have driven was an older (02?) wrangler with a soft top and I hated the shit out of it, extremely loud and drove like crap. Im sorry the ride in a tacoma is much smoother and comfortable and it's crazy because I would not consider tacomas to have the nicest interior. I did ride in a jk sahara edition with all leather and it was a little nicer but still meh. That being said I still kind of want an old xj/cherokee as a trail/camping/crawling rig. The concept of the jk itself is awesome, now if they only made them have a nice interior and a better motor I would be interested

Agreed - I also think the Taco rides smoother than a JK, although some have other opinions. I don't think it's a massive difference, but I can tell.

The Wrangler is getting re-designed in for 2017, so we will see if they refine it more. That's the hard part, though - they can't refine it too much, b/c the Wrangler is the heart of the Jeep line and needs to stay 'true to its roots'. Honestly, they sell them faster than they can make them - they're a massive seller.

A JK with options for a more plush interior would be as far as I hope they go on the redesign, but I know that's not going to happen. I'm sure it'll end up being even more "soccer mom" and less "weekend warrior" in tradition with the last redesign. At the end of the day, Fiat would much rather sell to hip stay-at-home moms who don't know how to use the 4x4 lever than someone who is going to break shit and cost them in warranty claims.

On the bright side, the Fiat Chrysler CEO announced that it will remain body on frame with solid axels, so that's a good start.

I personally think they peaked with the TJ and should have never dumped the 4.0, but I'm a little biased.

I did see a really nice tj on 37s with a hard top that I would drive. Would be a fun weekend car maybe, another thing is how damn expensive jeeps are because of the jeep community, I wouldnt pay 25,000 for a used tj

Bought a 2003 Wrangler new, drove it for 10 years and 245,000 miles, never had to do more than a couple brake jobs and a new radiator. Sold it for 5K within ten minutes on CL, had 7 guys calling me as soon as the ad went up, shoulda asked for more.

Just adding my Jeep story, nothing bad to say about it or my Taco.

Tacomas are the same way. It makes them one of the best vehicles to buy new.

I hear that. I'd love another TJ as a weekend toy, but it's ridiculous how much a decent one goes for. I regularly see lower mileage (60k-70k) 2004-2006 Rubicons for $20k+ around Pittsburgh. To compare, I bought my 2009 TRD OR in 2012 for $21k out the door.

Rubis hold their value so well, that's why I don't think I'll ever sell mine
