@silverpataco1968 Very nice! And jealous of you for that snow.

Nice rhino-liner job! Did you do that yourself? Very clean.

I agree. I'd never even think about taking my Tacoma's doors off. Way too involved and shit will be everywhere the second you take it off road. Unlike the Wrangler, you can't spray out the interior with a garden hose or let the pools of water drain from the body tub.

Yeah. Something I'd like to try eventually, but probably not anytime soon.

Speaking of, surely someone has torn out their carpet and rhino-lined a 2nd Gen before?

    Search function, here I come...

Seems like there are a lot of electronic bits down low that I wouldn't want to get wet. Maybe he can weigh in.

It sounds like u need a TJ or LJ. Anything from 07-11 is the 3.8

What @odi77 said - you must mean 07-11.

And I was moreso trying to illicit first-hand experience of the 3.8L motor that was in the early JKs.

LJs are nice, but they only produced them from '04-'06, so they're hard to find with decent mileage and super pricey, especially in Rubicon trim.

I had one a couple years back - a 2005 LJ with 60k. I probably bought it too quick out of an abundance of excitement to find one so nice. I ended up selling it b/c I was too scared to actually use it on the trails anyways - too pricey haha. I ended up making all my money back, and it was fun there for a little bit!

Are you South enough in VA for driving that Prerunner with not much snow?

Yeah, roads are pretty mild here, and I don't live off the 'beaten path' enough to really warrant 4X4 right now. Everything I want to do - camping, hunting, etc. - my PreRunner handles beautifully. HOWEVER, having a fun little Jeep to tool around in would be fun! Hence my thread.

I had a 2004 Wrangler Unlimited LJ - for 6 years and recently sold it to get the DCLB Tacoma - Loved the Jeep and it was fun, but it had its drawbacks, Could not take it on long trips, uncomfortable and not alot of storage room. The TACOMA is 1000% better for my needs.

The vinyl flooring is nice but like you said there is still exposed electrical under the seats. Definitely wouldn't take a hose to it but if you get some mud clumps on it it sure is easier to clean than carpet.

That looks very nice. Well done, sir.

The part number you provided for some reason states manual transmission in the specs. Did the vinyl go up and over the middle bulge, or will having an auto not affect the fit of it?

    Thanks!

Thanks. That part will fit both MT and AT since the center plastic dimensions are the same.

I've had a couple, 1st pic was our 84 CJ7, a mostly stock weekend cruiser, sold it last year because we never drove it. The 2nd pic was a toy I built a few years ago from a pile of parts & sheet metal, 400ci Chevy small block, 4-speed, 3/4ton axles w lockers, 38" tires. I named it the Swamp Monster......my wife just called it violent, she was scared to ride in it! They were fun, probably more fun for wheeling than the Taco.

Now thats what I'm talking about, you can get a totally restored FJ40 for the price of a new jeep and the 30+ year old FJ will still outlast that jeep! There is a reason they used FJ's and Land Rovers vs Jeeps in the Camel series runs years back. I was looking for a jeep, Taco, something to replace my 4X2 SC Silverado 4.2 and I came upon my taco and never looked back. I have always loved Toyota's, now, if they can just stop using the UAW quality guide they seem to have been using since making them in America things would be great. (UAW makes total crap)
