@TacoTaco15 you should check my quote before your post. I'm not totally anti Jeep. If I bought one though it'd be an older one in great shape that would be easy to offload if I needed too. That's the only way a Jeep would make sense to me. I could never wrap my head around getting a JK just to be totally up front. Yes, it would be do to reliability and drivability concerns.

My jeep was like an RC car. Every time i drove it, i needed to fix it. But that was wheeling it, not getting groceries.

Also important to note that dash lights for jeeps aren't $30 a bulb and can be found at autozone.

Fair enough! I don't even know why I find myself arguing in favor of the 07-present Jeeps (JKs) - I don't know if I'd ever actually buy one. I'm likely going to get either a YJ (87-95) or TJ (97-06). Also, I'm actively going to seek one out with issues so that it can remain a project. One of those projects you enjoy working on, as opposed to one that I need to be on the road all the time. So, definitely keeping the Taco for the road!

Yeah no worries, brotherman. :) I appreciate your input! I think that's what I'm going to end up with - an older one. I don't see myself going the JK route anytime soon. I'm going to standby and see how the re-design in 2017 looks, and then re-assess from there. In the meantime, I'll likely get one from 87-06 with the 4.0L. I can be patient, as I'm going to keep my Taco as my DD - so I'll wait for the 'right one' to come along.

Touche. In all fairness, I am looking for a 'project', so I'd enjoy working on a Jeep often.

Fair enough lol. Look I'm not dick swinging the Tacoma up. I like some things about the Jeep. Their reliability is not one of them though. When you talk to a Jeep guy, he doesn't talk about the reliability of his vehicle. That says something.

The Tacoma has it's issues to. I just bent a UCA. However, IMHO, the Tacoma suspension configuration helped me rather than hurt me damage wise. An SAS setup could of wrecked even more or might not of been able to limp out from the trail all the way to a shop 40 km away.

Who uses stock leaves on either the Tacoma or the Jeep. On both vehicles the stock suspension is gone on most builds.

I'm good! Cruising along. Looking for another gig that doesn't involve frequent rotations. I finish my MBA in May, and I'm going to look into another industry. I actually have a few interviews lined up for when I get back. I'm getting too old for this business.

That's a great point! Mods are plentiful on both vehicles, and after-market support on all is stellar. I can't really lose in this situation.

I bought my Taco cuz I use it for pickup truck stuff. Hauling lumber, mulch, dirt, furniture, dead game animals etc. You can't really do that with a Wrangler. I like trucks. Just never been a fan of domestic, overpriced, terrible resale, undersized suv's that ride terribly. Also, my truck's a Toyota. Which in my book means reliable with great resale value. I've owned several Camry's and had great runs with them. Another thing, in my experience, a lot of domestic (gm, ford, dodge) vehicles always have stupid little things break on them, like switches and knobs and stuff. No quality control at all. Not so much with Toyota in my experience. In my area, people think GM is the shit. They're everywhere around here. I hate them!
Also, my older brother is a Jeepaholic who thinks Wranglers are the greatest thing since sliced bread. He's always busted my balls about my "jap truck". Well his Rubi is just about rusted to death and a total pos. Just recently he asked me if I'm considering buying a new Taco, cuz he'd like to buy my 09 Taco off me. Nuff said!

So many things wrong with this post. I'll go one by one.

    1) 'Never been a fan of domestic' -- Your Taco was made in the US.

    2) 'Overpriced' -- The Wrangler hands-down outsells the Taco, both in the 2nd and 3rd generations. It's literally not even close. They sell more Jeeps than they can produce, so the price seems to be doing just fine.

    3) 'Terrible resale' -- The Wrangler is right up there with the Tacoma in terms of re-sale value. It's just a few percentage points below when it comes to 36-month residual value, but they're just about neck and neck.

    4) 'Rubi is about rusted to death' -- I mean, the Taco literally has a recall for a replacement of the entire frame due to rust on the 2nd Gen, and you're giving him shit about rust on his Wrangler? Really?

    5) 'Nuff said' -- I hate this phrase so much. No, it's not nuff said. Full of inaccuracies and blatant bias - it was too much said.

Appreciate your opinion, but I just have to call bullshit when I see it. I love my Taco, but I'm not biased to the point of flat-out lying about Jeeps. They're also great vehicles, but they just have their niche. At the end of the day, I'm going to keep my Taco and get an older Jeep. Luckily, I know what I'm talking about - if I was less educated, I may have just believed everything you wrote in that post.

It's simply my opinion. Thats it. You asked for peoples opinions, to the point where you put up a survey. Wasn't trying to tell untruths.
And yes, I realize my truck was made in the US.
Another thing, I haven't had any frame issues with my specific truck.
Resale value, in my area, Toyotas have very strong resale value here. I'm speaking locally, not nationally. Sorry, I should have stipulated that.
