I would take a LONG look at the proposed Jeep truck if/when it happens especially if it has a decent diesel available?

Of course, I am also dealing with the current TDI diesel "scandal" :notsure: with our Q5 so we will have to see how that turns out?

I wouldn't get a new jeep because it's all shitty Chrysler/Daimler parts. If you go on the forums and see how many issues people have with their new jeeps(<10000miles). The only jeep I'd buy is the one with the I6.(pre-2006)

I've owned Jeeps. I work on Jeeps now. Friends have 'em. I read Jeep forums just for kicks..... Long story short, I've bounced around the idea of owning another one. Lots of fun when they're running OK. Really cool concept in off roading. But...you could not GIVE me one built since 1974. Late 60's/early 70's models were the stuff legends are made of. Since then....Not so much. They're a myth now.

    YMMV.

Last summer I traded my '12 JKU for a '15 TRD OR. I loved the jeep. Got as good, if not a little better mpg. But I wanted/needed a truck. Happy with the Tacoma, but still miss the jeep at times.

True if you want to trailer it to the trail, wheel it, then haul it home again.

I drove 2 different ones as "daily drivers".....Put well over 100,000 miles on both. Never saw a trailer....

Keep the Taco, buy a trailer big enough for the Jeep, then tow the trailer with the Jeep loaded up. Of course take off all heavy weight

Its not just the poor quality of f'n chrysler junk, its the douchebag hipster millennial fanboy culture of jeeps.

"You wouldn't understand its a jeep thing" Damn straight I DONT understand the jeep thang and I am damn proud of that.

I worked at an AMC dealership washing cars in high school, I do not acknowledge Chrysler products to be jeeps.

My buddy had a "jeep" chrysler suv and he pulled the unibody apart trying to pull someone out, this thing literally separated and was trashed. Took vern a long time to patch that POS back together in his driveway.

I'm excited for it to be warm enough for topless jeep weather again in Wyoming. I'm also looking forward to longer distance adventures in the Tacoma. (Top speed in the jeep is about 65. I'm not brave enough to get on the interstate and go too far.)

Why not buy a Jeep? This is why.
    1. No aftermarket parts available.
    2. short wheel base sucks off-road.
    3. convertibles are no fun in the summer.

If I was someone who always drove new vehicles and replaced them while they're in warranty, and I didn't need a truck, I'd definitely consider a Jeep. I'd love to have one as a second vehicle just for fuckin around in but the older cheaper ones are not so reliable. (breaking news) (pun intended)

quadratec.com, anything you could ever want for a jeep. if maintained, the 4.0 will not fail.
