The best Jeeps.....IMHO, the best were late 60's to early 70's. On the top edge of the body, just above the rear wheel opening, there was a "notch" where once upon a time, bows to support the canvas top were mounted. That notch stayed with the CJ's until the redesign in late '76 when AMC threw out the baby with the bath water. Models where you see that notch were amongst the best off road vehicles ever built. "Post notch era", not so much.....Once the Pacer/Gremlin rear end went under 'em, they went from legend to myth...When I had my 78 and 79's, I also had a pile of broken axles out behind the garage, ricked up like firewood.....And you had better keep an electric test light, a box of spare fuses, and a welder handy at all times.

I know there are lots of people who have a hard time choosing between a Jeep and a Taco. The correct answer is to get both. IMG_0107_zpszckjwr7c_286cda34345ce333bdf3c433def88a73d318cee1.jpg

    Just to answer the question:

    Because Jeeps aren't Toyota's.

Agreed, and Toyota's aren't jeeps. They are for two totally different and conflicting purposes.

    Toyota for driving.
