Time to join the cool party then...if you're going to pay for a F150, might as well pay for the Tundra instead.

Somewhere...I think that was a TSB for an 08, IIRC.

IMO, you wouldn't want to sit behind yourself for too long.

I have a DCSB, and I only it over a fullsize because I don't have teenagers yet. When I do, it'll be too small. It's already marginally too small as it is, with a baby and a dog.

Sitting behind the driver seat isn't possible when I drive, however.

Obviously. I think he is gathering informed input so he can make that decision.

Irrelevant to this thread, good sir.

My sombrero doesn't fit on the dash.

I'd probably try and sit in the drivers seat of a 2016, put it where you're comfortable to drive for hours and then get out and sit in the rear seat on the drivers side and see what kind of space it has.

I really don't consider a Tacoma double cab to be appropriate for 4 adults, but I'm a circus freak.

Hmmmm, right on the edge. Goddamn fencesitter. Flip a coin. :notsure:

It's isn't a bad idea though to take them for drives and have some people sit in the back, and take a turn back there yourself.

Even I was ducking my head to swing into the 15 driver seat, and that suprised me. The 16 roofline/door openeing does not appear to have changed.

I should add, recently had a full cab going up tothe wine country. FIL is average size, front passenger, not complaints. Had Step-MIL and wife in back seat with rear-facing infant seat bwtween them. They are both 5'6 or under. No complaints.

But you aren't going to get a fire crew in there all nicey-nice.

Same door, same cab on 2016s. The difference is the interior has been reconfigured for a small gain of room, something like 2 inches? But on some models the ceiling height has been lowered. I know there's a few guys who are about your height and have mentioned sitting in a 2016 they have very little headroom in the driver seat.

You should look at the Tundra Double Cab (the extended cab version of the Tundra). Only because the extended cab Tundra has the most space in the back compared to the rest of the full sized trucks. If the double cab is big enough you could avoid the overly long truck.

Go test drive both of them and see what you like. The F150 Super Cab is darn the size of the DCLB Tacoma (you can find an XLT for about $32K)...I would look at those too, more power and damn near the same mpg. The Tundra is ok, but the mileage sucks, if I am going to get shitty mileage, might as well buy a 3/4 ton gasser...

Kids only get bigger, they tend have friends and all the stuff that goes along with them, especially if they are into sports, ride bicycles, and whatnot. I find I run out of room in the Taco with just the two of us. Decided to buy a fullsize in addition to my Tacoma.

My Tacoma is "ok" when it is just me, but when she comes camping with me...it is tight....chicks and all their shit they "have" to bring... ;)

Apples and oranges. If someone needs a full size truck and wants to deal with the size around town, they are stuck. I don't think its a viable choice if someone wants a midsize. The Full size could be cheaper and better optioned but I would still choose the Tacoma. A full size truck is too big for my needs.

Myself and 3 buddies drove 12 hrs in mine. They all thought it was pretty comfortable. The only thing that could be a little more desirable is leg room behind the driver usually.

The nice option of larger full size is the seats somewhat recline. So at least you can rest at an angle. The tacoma is pretty straight up. I have gone on trips for over 12 hours in a tacoma. Its not the best for sure especially if you are above 5'10 or so. I am 5'6 so its fine for me.

A 4x4 dclb tacoma isn't going to be much shorter than a full size standard bed. And the steering radius is pry just as bad. If you don't plan to off road much I would go full size.

In my area they average $7-8K below MSRP

One can never have too many light bars.
F150's MSRP and what you actually pay are much different. The American Companies have a much different model in that they will overprice just to discount vs the Japanese companies that sell closer to MSRP. I know thus far the 2016 F-150's sell for about 8k less than MSRP. So I would go do both a Toyota and Ford dealer to talk numbers if you want accurate pricing.

I think he's meaning the backseat seat backs (wut) are more angled in a full size, whereas the seat backs in the back of a Tacoma are more steeply angled and less comfortable for extended trips.
