This was a brain fart on my end saying what I did. You may have to take off the LPR to get to wedge nut.

I think the one I checked had the nut on the outside...allowing the socket to clear the head on the inside. can't remember now!

Measurement check for those keeping score:

Solo is 28" wide from center to pivot and apparently doesn't clear a rotopax on a late gen Taco without an extension.

The SoloXL is 30" wide from center to pivot and has 3" longer male receiver shaft (drum roll please) so it very sure would clear a Taco with a Rotopax.

Ah ha I could probably do that as that would make the wedge accessible with the socket then

but the soloxl is more expensive, and heavier, and also sits at the same height as the towing hitch correct?

And the high clearance one will require an extension for it to fit the rotopax... does the extension have any downsides to it?

But the new High Clearance one will not fit the Rotopax as well without the extension correct?

Both the Solo and SoloXL sit at hitch height.

The Solo High Clearance will sit 4" higher and not come in the XL variant (as things stand as of right this second).

    Heavier yes...by I think 3-4lbs.

More expensive..yup...about $60 or one trip to the movies with a significant other.

As yet untested, but yes indeed it looks that way...for the Tacoma with factory hitch.

Full tow rating of the hitchgates...has a wedge lock...isn't quite as stealthy as Unchained pointed out.

No downside other than being less svelte.

still no release date on it just yet correct?

EDIT: by it i mean the high clearance

also back to the XL, sounds like it sturdier. it can hold more weight too, and for $60 difference it seems worth it. also wont need the hitch extension, but will it fit the tacoma well you think? or is it more for something like the tundra?

it will "fit" but not sure you'll like the 30" wide bar at hitch height.

So are you gonna send an extension so I can test it to see how well it works on the Tacoma, and make sure the Rotopax fits well? Enjoy the party.

So far I'm still holding off for the high clearance one. Any updates on release yet?
