I found a guy wanting to deal his 2016 Tacoma Off-road shocks and coilovers. He claims they will bolt right on a gen 2, give me 1" lift, and an improved ride. Any truth to these claims? For $300 would it improve my on-road ride? Do a lot of commuting and TRD is beating me up.

Ride will be the same unless the shocks u have now are completely shot.

I am beginning to wonder that. I have 117,000 miles on the 2013. when i hit bumps in the road, i here almost a pop/rattle thunk sort of sound, almost like something really big is loose. I thought maybe i had a bad wheel bearing, but maybe its a worn shock..?

I have a 16 Tacoma. Do not buy this suspension it sucks relative to any aftermarket options (except spacers and such). It would give you 1" lift but thats nothing.

Go with OME if your looking to not spend too much and get a noticible improvement.

You’re prob due for shocks. The 3rd gen suspension isn’t a bad option if u can get it for cheap. It’s not really worth it for $300 imo tho. For about $330 u can get a set of 5100s.

You are definitely in need of new shocks. Check your leaf spring as well.

I would not go with take offs and spend just a little bit more and get a set of front and rear Bilstein 5100's

I just put on 3rd gen Off Road coilivers last weekend. I got about 1.5 inches of lift and the ride is waaayyy better. I got the whole setup front and rear for $200. I paid a little more than the going rate around here because the rear leafs were part of the deal. Just fronts shouldnt be no more than $150.
