gimmie a few hours I'll read all 20 pages and get back to you lol.

At this point like smitty's post in his sig, too many variables to say yes or no.
This thread may say sure but others have posted saying no.
Some tread is different and may rub, others might not. So to say a definitive yes is wrong.

How many say 265 70 17 don't rub stock yet my duratracs did before I removed front mud flaps.

No, there aren't too many variables on a bone stock truck. They kinda all come the same from the factory. That's sorta their thing.

too many variables in tires I mean.

Go on all the tires sites very few will have the same overall diameter measurement for the same size tires.
They all may be in the same general area, but not all the exact same.

take 285 goodyear MTR kevlar, 33.08" vs goodyear duratrac 33" exact.
    some are different.

How many have put on KO2 265 70 17 say no rub but my duratracs did.

That's fair, I'll give you that. Only thing is with 255s, there are only 3-4 tire choices, with the most popular being KM2s and Cooper St Maxx which are both tried and true to not rub.

can't argue that, that is true and one reason I'm kinda stuck with doing a CMC soon haha. Very few options for the pizza cutters lol.

Although I know some have fit 285s without CMC
@dorton comes to mind as from previous threads he was running a 285 and no rub or CMC.

From what I've read, it seems those people have aftermarket UCAs and can shove their tire way forward in the wheel well with a shit load of caster to avoid that. Either way, a CMC isn't too big of a deal! When I did mine, I bought my own angle grinder and did all the cutting myself. Cost the same price overall, but I got an angle grinder out of it.

255/85/16 will fit fine I've heard using TRD OR wheels. Anything wide will require cutting

edit: Probably should have read what others said first, carry on :p

if high caster doesn't kill tires I may just do that then I'll be getting total chaos UCAs

As far as I know, the main killer of tires is improper toe, so you'll be good there.

There needs to be more clarification of actual tire size instead of just saying "33's", especially when you're telling someone no, they don't fit.

255/85/16s will fit on the stock OR suspension and wheels. It seems that making any change to that setup will compromise that fit, based on the data gathered in my thread (which has been linked above and is available in my sig). I'd recommend these over the wide tires anyway cause if you can live with a true mud tire, they're way less terrible on your gas mileage.

To be clear, I don't have a sport, or aftermarket wheels, or any other nonsense that I can test with. But bone stock OR with OR wheels, it's been confirmed that KM2s, Dick Cepak Extreme Countries, Maxxis MT Bighorns all fit with no rubbing. The only tire I can think of offhand that may be questionable to fit is the Toyo, which I believe is 33.5" in diameter, but in my experience, Toyo tires have been crap anyway so I'm never going to recommend those. I know myself and one other running the KM2s wheel our trucks and have confirmed that at all levels of stock suspension articulation, there are no issues. One note: You may experience mudflap rubbing in the front with extra weight added and need to remove the flaps.

Also, to everyone who chimes in on these tire size threads without ever actually trying something yourself and spreading misinformation...

    From the dead...

265/75r16 is the widely accepted max tire size on a stock Tacoma. Just under 32 inch give or take.

I have 285 on stock suspension with -10 offset wheels. You just have to trim. My build thread is in my signature. (Signature only shows in portrait mode on the phone)
