Will 3rd gen wheels fit my second gen

    2012 pyrite mica access cab
    I want to buy a set of those charcoal honey comb alloys off the 2016 tacoma and put them on my second gen sr5 prerunner. The wheels are the same size and have the same bolt pattern but a website I was on said they would only fit the 4x4 models. Anyone know if this is true?
