= => Will A "SPINDLE" Lift Help my Rubbing? 285/70/17 w/4.5 BS @ 2.5 Lift <= =

So I've got some minor rubbing here and there. Like some other threads, some people ended up cutting the cab and I don't want to do that at all. I've consider cutting it & welded back by Demello.

However I'd rather avoid that if I can just do the Spindle Lift. I've been told by a few other Taco owners I can run a 3.5 Spindle Lift by TC and it will eliminate it.

My Set Up

1. 285/70/17 w/4.5 Back Spacing
2. 2.5 SAW Coilovers
3. Total Chaos UCA
4. Trimming on the Fenders

I don't want to invest in the Spindle Lift if its not going to Cure anything. I also don't want to get lifted too much higher than I'm sitting @ now.

Any insight or advice will be appreciated!

im kinda leaning towards getting the spindles and dropping down my coilovers an inch or more for softer ride and tire clearance. but I havent bought rims or tires yet. but I think spindles should give you what you need. good luck

I've been looking into spindles as well, but I'm not sure if that's what I want...

 

I just don't want to drop much more money into the TACO. I love it as is and I've got money go towards things other than the TACO. I just want to be done with modding it.

I'm ready to move on to other things but its seems it will not allow me to.

I've got spindles and I recommend them. I suggest setting your coil overs to a 1" height with the spindles. With this setup, you won't rub at all unless your offroading. I've got this setup now and love it.

If you are rubbing, you just need to cut more out of the wheel well. I have 285/70/17 bfg all terrains and 17x9 wheels with 4.5 inch of backspace. Keep in mind my wheels stick out 1/2 inch more than yours. I have no rubbing, but I did cut a lot out and cut my cab mount.

 

Hmmm...$150 (all labor) to get your cab mounts done versus $1,000-$1,400 (depending on brand - tax and install/labor not include) on spindles. I know you said you wanna avoid cutting, but in my mind it's a no brainer!

if you don't wanna go higher than you already are... 3" i am assuming..
3.5/4" spindle will already exceed your current set up. I am all for spindles on a prerunner. but if you dont wanna go higher and are tired of dumping $$ on the taco....pay the 150 or so to have the cab mounts chopped and plated. plenty of people on here runin around with trimmed cab mounts.

but that is just my .02
maybe the spindles and the coilovers on the absolute lowest setting they will go?

do you think 305s could fit under that setup with out rubbing?

 

if they dont....adjust the 5100's higher. 6.5" of lift at highest setting. (4" spindles+ 5100's @ 2.5)
havent seen it done w/305's yet

 

i have been wanting to upgrade for awhile to coilovers and spindles from the ome coils. i really want to run a little wider tire than 285s, 305s look like the next size up but i want to know the minimum amount of lift to get them without major mods.

 

Doubt it. I had the 5100's at 1.85 and I still had a SLIGHT rubbing at full turn going over a bump.

.85 with spindles won't be high enough to fit those tires.

 

I've decided after reading and reading about it. I will just get my cab mounts done right. Calling Demello in the morning to inquire about the price and set up a time.

You already have 4.5" bs right. Your putting wheels spacers on top of that? And what size spacers 1.25?

 

i added wheel spacers to eliminate cab mount rubbing issues...well it made it 10x worse...
