    tonneau,
I think the beds are like 3 inches deeper on the 16 so the tailgate would be too tall on a 2nd gen

Here you go, 5 minute photoshop so not perfect but will give you an idea. I removed the 2nd gen trailer plug so it looks a little more accurate.

The fact there's a damper built into the hinge probably complicates things.

Looks like the tailgate spoiler is making a comeback. :D

It's not that far fetched. A good welder and body man could pull it off. You would basically take the 2 tailgates and skin the lower half of the new tailgat to the old tailgate. It would look ultra cool if done right. I am definitely not a good welder or body man but would be interested in seeing the end result. I'd also be interested in the rear bumper idea too if someone has a means to try it

Wonder if 2nd gen high-clearance bumpers will fit 3rd gens?

i dont think the bed is ANY deeper. The tailgate is taller to meet the sides of the bed.

I've read and heard that the bed itself is an inch deeper than the previous MY bed.

The fiberglass bed isn't any deeper technically speaking but the fenders and everything else are taller, which overall makes the bed space deeper. To illustrate this look at a rear shot of a 3rd gen and you'll see the bed now reaches the back glass unlike the 1-1.5 inch gap seen on 2nd gens.

The fact that every single thing about it is different, probably complicates things.

Thanks. That looks pretty good from the rear but I imagine the side view would be off.

Yes possibly. 2016 appears to have more of a slight curve in its fender where the bumper matches up. Might be a slight issue with lines meeting. Only way to really know is someone will need to be a test dummy lol.

Does any aftermarket companies make a damper that could be implemented into the tailgate on a '15?
