Is this true? Has anyone else had this experience?

I think if they gave you that response you could make the case that "I just bought this truck, after which I became aware of potential rust problems. You just told me my truck isn't safe to drive on the road, and you want to take it from me, but I have to drive it for 6 months first? What if it fails while I'm driving because you forced me to keep the vehicle?"

If that doesn't get the right kind of attention with the management I'm not sure what would...

TRD short throw shifter, Eibach 1.6" lift coils 5100's on all corners, Ipod interface, Painted engine cover, radiator cover, skid plate, speaker grills overhead console, and added carbon fiber and chrome interior trim (Too much cheap plastic) TRD cat back, LED 3rd brake light. 100 lbs of sound deadner. Infinity ref. 6 1/2 all around. OBX pedals and shifter. DTRL mod, Alt. turn signal mod, LED's in glove box and console, LED's under dash lip and back A/C vent,Weather Tech mats. Took off antenea for wind noise
They let you take off all your aftermarket stuff off..... so save the stock parts. I got $13,732 for my 2000 TRD. If the rust is not too bad you get a new frame, brake lines, bushings and so on. The check sure helped on the payments on a $30,000 truck. They offered a free rental, but I drove the 2010 and took it home. What a differance 10 years makes. $25,000 for the 2000 new - $13,732 for buy back, cost me $1,000 a year to drive the old truck. I must say Toyota made me very happy.

That sounds like a pretty reasonable way to prevent the profit motive...although I'm sure nobody here would thing about doing that  From the stories I've read I don't think there is any way that they would let ANYONE drive off in a truck that failed inspection...maybe the 100% payout comes into play when your second recently purchased truck fails

Is there any paperwork for the 2001-2004 Tacomas like you have for the earlier years?
