Winch Pics

Last week I installed the Warn Transformer grill guard on my truck. My winch showed up yesterday. This morning I picked up the mounting channel from a local shop and I put everything together this afternoon in my garage. I'm thinking about putting the brush guards on also to protect the headlights but I kind of like the way it looks without them. What do you guys think?

Looks sweeeeet, but if your really going into the bush and rocks, I say install the light guards. Just me but I would loose the bug guard, just sayin.

Thanks. I actually don't like the look of the bug guard myself but after owning a few trucks, some with and some without guards, the leading edge of the hood is in much better condition with one after a few winters driving. It's a practical accessory more than a decorative one.

Knowing how that's ultimately mounted, and given the long lever arm out to the headlights, I'm hard pressed to envision a scenario that would break your headlights that wouldn't also use the long lever arm there and bend your transformer mount point

EDIT: I suppose it would protect against a super agressive snap-back by a thick branch that flipped hard enough to break the headlight. But if you actually *hit* anything, I think the whole works is gonna bend.

 

Thank you. How do you like the portable 9000? Is that a custom made front hitch? I looked into going that route but the only hitch I could find would have made the winch too low to be practical.

Yes I built it. It works good for me & it's nice to be able to move the Winch to the back or to a different truck.

 

Nice. And you can also keep it inside the truck out of the weather.

1850 for everything including shipping and taxes. You should be able to get it a couple hundred cheaper stateside. The winch also came with a free wireless remote control. No labor. I installed it myself.
