Super stoked to find this thread. I came from a Silverado 1500 ltz that was practically silent at 100mph so the tacoma feels like I'm driving a convertible noise wise.

Where did you guys go down along the rear doors? I notice my rear doors close, but they are not flush anymore and when I put pressure, they move in a little. Fronts seem to be fine though. Haven’t noticed any rattle or wind coming through in the back, but I feel like I may need to move them in a bit to get the doors more flush.

Thanks OP for this write up!! I finally got around to doing this and extremely helped out from the wind noise. I already dyno matted the interior and doors. I upgraded my speakers and amps.. My goal was to keep the surrond sound inside without the outside noise and hissing from the doors. Music sound much better like a Dolby atmos surrond sound and can hold a conversation without the wind and other noise outside. Pretty much eliminated the hissing sound from the doors.
FYI.. I ran the rear strip along the outside groove to give me a flush seal but others went in the middle.
For those who have a sun roof, I had some extras and decided to run the strip along the edge of the trim. I made sure it did not hinder from the sunroof closing and opening operation. That really made a big difference and helped it seal from the wind noise. Hope this helps.

Did this friday and finally got out and drove the interstate today. My doors are all sound proofed but this made a noticeable difference.
This checks off the bang for the buck mod for sure.

I went with @Will'sSR5 recommendations and worked like glove. Tight seal and not hard to shut close but requires break in period to mold into place.

As for cabin pressure ear popping in the cabin and filtering the baffle in the rear cab. Here's my past post with @jerzsubbie in how we were able suppress the area. Hope this helps.

    15dB?
What dB meter did you use to measure this? Was it A or C weighted?

I installed this mod yesterday and I'm not seeing the results you guys are seeing. My cabin was already pretty quiet but that's because I've got 2 layers of noico deadener on all 4 doors. I can't say I noticed the cab being any quieter after doing this, but I don't have a SPL meter. The only thing this mod has achieved is making my doors harder to close. The front ones aren't too bad but the rear ones I have to slam shut, enough to the point that I'm thinking about removing it.

did you take it out on the interstate? wind noise on the interstate was the biggest improvement for me.

Yes, I drove about 40 miles at 75 mph. Honestly my roof rack is the loudest thing while driving. Everything else has been very quiet ever since I deadened my doors and roof.

I only did the top half of each side of my truck. I'm wondering if there will be a "gap" at all on the bottom that's going to let air in on the freeway and in high crosswind areas. I'm driving out of state on Friday/Saturday....I guess I'll find out. The whole reason when I did the top part was to help the crosswind air leak I have.

if your roof rack is creating so much noise it wont matter what else you quiet down. Im betting thats whats happening. I dont have a roof rack for that reason

Yea it's just something I'll have to live with. I've got 2 100w solar panels up there, a weboost antenna, 40inch lightbar, and an awning. It's just too useful to take off.

Most of the time I am blasting music in there and can't hear anything else anyways.
