    Oh look, another mod....

Thanks! Okay, last question (I think). It looks like you secured it with plastic push-pin style buttons. Or is it something else? The link you posted for the material said it was non-adhesive. I'm trying to find out how I can secure it safely to the hood.

I used a combo of the plastic push-pin style ones (I found some that said they were underhood temp rated) in the center and I used metal ones from the same place I bought the liner for the corners. The ones in the center I used existing holes in the hood. The ones in the corners I drilled new holes in some of the cross members on the hood.

Just adding another pic from the outside. As you can see, the rubber trim seals along the edge of the panel.. knowing now, it would be easier to install when sunroof is open..

I did this mod (front and rear doors) over the weekend and finally got my Tacoma out on the freeway today. Have to say that I didn’t notice much, if any difference in the interior noise level. It was worth a shot though.

Probably helps with those who more modded and with louder MT tires.

I used a round black pipe insulation aka pool noodle between the cab and the bed a few years ago. I just bought a roll of the weatherstripping this past week, did the truck and heard no difference. The doors were hard to shut, and I think this was putting too much stress on the doors. I removed the weatherstripping after a few days and again it sounded the same. My truck is very quiet to begin with but for $30 I had to at least try it. One thing I had done when the Rockford amp and sub went in was dynomatting the back panel and under the carpet and the pool noodle.

I did this mod and definitely noticed a difference. For $30 and 10 minutes of time, I think it's worth it. Also, the pool noodle over the rear seat vents also helps a ton.

Followed this today and it does make a difference. Pretty good to do after a lift and new tires, now my sound is back down to "NORMAL" levels. Was pretty shocked at the amount of new noise with the lift. But hey, cause and effect.

Where specifically are people putting the pool noodles? Even better if you have pics?

That's the gap between the bed and rear cab. After reading this thread I saw a pool noodle sticking out of a pile of dirt near work so I grabbed it. I love free mods.

I got a black foam pool style noodle and ran in between the cab and the bed. I went over the gas tank andout 6 inches from the bottom. Worked like a charm, so much difference and I never had an issue with wind noise. I had it in the garage and for the hell of it I tried it. Worked great.

    2nd gen leaking in here...

I did a full dyna treatment especially on the back wall two layers of Dynamat extreme then a layer of dynapad and a layer of dynaliner.

Loudest thing now seems to be the front windshield and my light bar wind noise, I think I'm going to try this mod and see if it helps further.

Dynamat'ing the whole cab, roof, floor, doors and getting as much coverage as I could was definitely worth the labor and expense I appreciate it every time I drive my truck.

Anything to cut down on just aggravating noise.

I know what you mean somewhat. After taking my back seats and plastic trim out of my DC the noise level was horrendous. A single 80mil layer of Noico limited to where the upholstery would normally be did wonders, but by far the noisiest thing are those two vents behind the seats, at least until I get my rear wall fabricated.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Nice work. Going to try this too. My 2016 sings like a skill saw at times from wind noise. Good thing I was a carpenter for years and learned to tolerate it.

My past 3 4x4's, 2 were Fords and one a Mazda B4000, had next to no road noise inside the cab. My first Ford was an 86 F150, with interior steel floors, steel ceiling, no carpet, and no noises after 13 years hard off road driving. Go figure.

I got the 66 feet of D shaped weatherstripping did my access cab all around the strip at the front of the hood and in my cap gap still have about 9 feet leftover.

Golly , I dynamatted the complete cab of the truck including the headliner . Before I did this ,I took a rip on the hiway at 70mph and recorded the noise level with my sound meter .
After I was finished sound deadening , I took the truck for another test drive using the same travelway and same speed recording the sound level as I drove .
The best I could achieve was 11 decibels less . I must admit my stereo sounds fantastic .
I went from 73 decibels down to 62 . I am second gen mind you .
If you can get up to 15db just by adding the weatherstripping , you guys are very very lucky .
Maybe the 3rd gen trucks have better sound deadening from the factory

Any advice on what you ordered (link doesn’t work) and how you attached it so it stays in place?
