    Mirrors.

I have a buddy who is an ex-toyota dealership (factory tech). I played him that soundcloud file and in seconds he said it's the mirror. He said the FJ's had the same noise.

Again if that helps anyone. I don't hear it on mine but I hear so many other things that I haven't noticed. So if I drive my truck tomorrow and hear this I a blaming you all because I likely will be trying to listen for it now. It's like the stone chip you never saw until someone points it out and it stares at you like someone smashed into your front end.

I spoke to my buddy with the FJ Cruiser. He said for the FJ, the source is wind blowing under the trim piece at the top of the windshield.

Somebody try running a piece of tape across the entire windscreen seal and see if that helps on the 2016 Taco.

We'll find the root cause sooner or later...

If that is the case why doesn't everyone hear it? I heard it on three trucks I test drove.

Yeah "its hard to un-hear once you hear it"- Southeast Toyota Operations Manager......

I am going to tape up both mirrors and see if that helps.

Well sound is a funny thing. Everyone is half deaf or super human to specific ranges. I would say up here I hear more tire / road noise then wind because we have crappy roads. That in it's self may drown it out. As well, people love loud music and some prefer no music.

When I drive to work I drive head on the wind and on the way home it's a tail wind. My gas mileage shows it a lot. So perhaps some are driving north versus west and with all these other variables they can hear it.

Its a design issue. My 07 dbl cab did the same thing. It seems to happen when there are strong head winds and get a sudden cross wind. y 07 did it until I traded it in. My 16 does it too.

Mine does it no matter what the wind conditions. Did a series of tests which did not yield any results towards identifying the issue.
    Performed various checks while moving:
Rolled down drivers window - noise was more noticeable
Rolled down drivers side rear window - no change
Folded in mirror - no change
Turned on wipers - no change
Opened and closed moonroof - no change
Turned off HVAC - no change
Down hill, put tranny in Neutral, no change

Please feel free to add to this list...

Tried this around the drivers side weather stripping and no luck. I hear lots of wind noise on the top corner of my drivers side door, a little less noticeable on the passengers side.Screenshot_2015-11-20-09-24-14-1.jpg

Apparently it's the cab vents, according to the other threads on this.

This is not cab vent noise.
Just so we are all clear

I bagged and taped up the side mirror. No change. Then I bagged and taped up the tube step. No change. Frustrating.

How about the space between the cab and the bed?

I packed that area with weather stripping and taped it up....No change

I ran with the hood unlatched
    Taped mirrors

Rode in the bed and could not hear the noise. Sounds like its coming from front or rear right side. I had this noise before mud flaps and running boards. It's not steady as it is affected by road imperfections.

My 08, 14,and 15 never had this noise. This truck (and others I drove) Does it no matter what the wind conditions are. I hear it with no wind at all and it is there each and every ride regardless of wind direction or strength.

I called Toyota again today and opened up another ticket, They are finally escalating. I should hear from the region Monday.

EVERYONE WHO HAS THIS NEEDS TO CALL TOYOTA

Bob in Florida has taken it a step further possible arbitration...
