2 mil as in 2 millimeter? That's really thick!

no, thats not millimeters. tint is measured in mils. as are trash bags and stuff like that. I am not 100% sure what it actually stands for but here is a link to a conversion chart. 2 mils is .002" https://www.convertunits.com/from/MILS/to/INCHES

2mil thick film is pretty thick though. most automotive films are typically 1.5mil. we install some commercial safety film that is 7mil thick. that stuff is crazy thick. and works pretty good at keeping vandals and thieves out of your business.

By holding the glass panel together? Sort of like the windshield?

you asking about the safety film? it does more than hold the glass together. it is almost impossible to get thru that stuff. we went and saw a demonstration on it before we started installing it and you can't throw a brick thru it. you can get thru it if you are adamant and bring an axe with ya or a gun. otherwise, you aren't getting thru it. its strong as hell.

If tint shops were charging $500 for tint jobs around here, they'd go out of business! I have Flexfilm ceramic, 99% UV block, 80% IR block, no dye, no glare, no fade and lifetime warranty.

Big ones are King suspension, SSO bumper w/winch, Pelfreybuilt sliders.
I really wanted to try the flexfilm but nobody sold it around me. Ended up going with Johnson's or something like that.

OP, tint is only as good as the person installing it. That's the best advice I can give. You've got enough on the thread at this point get your research started. Good luck, and ceramic is worth the money. ;)

Sides should be 25-30. It's the darkest you can get while being legal. Windshield is 50 I think.

Y'all out there getting bent the eff over!

I got my 2 front doors and windshield strip for $40, with lifetime warranty, labor and the tint. 5% across the windshield, front doors match the factory AC doors and rear window. No clue what brand of tint, not ceramic, don't care either. It functions as it should, though!

Had a Ford Ranger years ago with 5% all around, way too damn dark to see at night. I also have to think that location and environment come into play with the cost.

Don't worry, that dyed film will be purple in a few years and you'll have to get it redone.

I’d love to see a company offering lifetime warranty on dyed tint lol.
