I wonder that it would take to put some sort of shim under the nozzle head. Like a mini wedge shape that could tilt these low sprayers up a notch...

Rained here today. Turned the wipers on. Downward swipe sounded awful. Not from the replaceable rubber hitting the windshield but the units. Will be hunting something to grease tomorrow.

That's what I thought when I read that they were spraying too low. There's a way to do everything with enough desire lol

I installed the ford sprayers yesterday, they're definitely low. Lots of wasted fluid on the wiper arms. I'm gonna try to shim them tonight

Mention of 2nd Gen tacos having the fan pattern in other sprayer threads - couldn't find anyone in those threads who actually confirmed fit. Anyone here? Part# 8538104040

I have no problem with the sprayers on my 2nd gen - spray pattern just like a "well appointed" car lol. They spray like a strapping young skunk.

Yep that's the correct part! There's 010, 020, 030,040 as the last digits for the Toyota nozzles of this general era it seems like. I think they're all the same dimensions. I'll be curious to see how the 040 ones work! I'll probably try that if the 2004 sienna ones don't work out.

I think he means for them being used in a first gen.

I think the Sienna ones are low as well. Their hoods are already angled and the wipers are almost under the hood so the sprayer doesn't need to angle much. I think they are 20 deg. as was most of the fan sprayers I found on most cars/vans.

Hmm shoot. I hope not! I'll find out later today though! Are you referring to the degrees as width of the fan pattern or in terms of spray angle of elevation? And would it be off the hood or off the ground as 0 degrees? One set I bought says it is 12 degrees but I think that one is referring to the angle of the spray width. So a pretty narrow spray of liquid. The sienna has two different angles so I'm thinking you're talking about elevation angle, right? I'm hopeful that someone comes up with a shim, if these sprayer patterns appear nice ;) haha

Well I know the Sienna ones I had had a narrow fan and a wide fan spray but both were pretty low and that was stationary. I don't think it will be any better while driving. It could vary from sprayer to sprayer though given the defects from plastic moldings.

I don't think shimming the ford nozzles is a useful solution, there's just not enough play to get them as high as I'd like the spray (looking for middle of the windshield coverage)

That said, the low fan spray is still much nicer than stock.

So my drivers side light saber pattern is at the correct height up the windshield. But my passenger side is only coming half way up.

I checked for a clogged nozzle but it looks fine. What else could be the issue?
Might have to go to the fan spray as well.

Ok, so these are a hard pass. Fail. Return. While a fan spray (i think lol), it doesn't even get any higher than the wiper blades - except for the passenger side. Concentrated to below wiper and somehow at top of windshield and roof. :ohsnap:

Will update again tomorrow once I receive the 040 2nd gen sprayers.
