I'm looking to get out camping and testing out my new Chinese Diesel heater. I'd like to go somewhere out of the desert but not too high and cold. I was thinking maybe somewhere out near Sedona? I've been to Sedona a few times but have never camped there. Would love to check out that area more. I much prefer dispersed camping but will also be arriving after dark.

I also considered the road into the Chiricauhaus but It's always a little unpredictable with the gates. Any advice would be appreciated.

I should add I'm trying to leave this evening for 3 nights.

I camped near the Diamond Gulch trail near Sedona. A little bit of OTV traffic but not too bad. Plenty of red rock views too. That trail is a mild starter if you want to offroad too. Not too far from Broken Arrow either.

Just a heads up, Sedona does not allow tent camping within city limits. Was quite a bummer when I figured that out the hard way last time up that direction

As others have said, camping options near sedona are limited. FR525 is the closest dispersed and its meh in the grand scheme of AZ camping. Go south this time of year, its still cold at night but there are much better options.

Thanks for the tips guys. Ended up running around scrambling to get on the road and just headed to a place near Sonoita AZ that I've been to before. Was nice having a short drive from Tucson.
