    I have a JL Audio jx250/1 and a RF P3SD2-8 (DVC 2 ohm) setup.

The amp will put out 250 watts at 2 ohms and 150 watts at 4 ohms. It has 4 speaker terminals (2+ and 2-).

My question: If I use all four speaker terminals on the amp and send power to each of the voice coils separately (rather than series) will the amp recognize it as a 2 ohm load? Since the speaker determines impedance rather than the amp I'm thinking this should work. Or won't it?

    All input is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

DVC 2ohm gives you 2 options for wiring. You'll have to use 4ohm since your amp isn't stable at 1ohm. Yout can't run all 4 wires to the sub.

I depends on what subs you have and how many subs you have.

IE... 2 dual voice 4 ohm subs can be wired for a 4 ohm load or a 1 ohm load.

2 dual voice coil 2 ohm subs can be wired for a 2 ohm load or a .5 ohm load.

There are also single voice coil subs and the wiring is different if there is only 1 sub...

Check out this site. There is a tool that will tell you how to wire your subs based on the sub(s) you are installing.

since the amp is a mono block i would imagine that they are like the kicker amps and it doesnt matter if you power 2 subs from the same ports or if you split the subs between both ports. You should still get the same power, but i would probably wire them both from the same port just to make sure.

Thought so. Thanks everyone. I guess 150 watts is what it will get for now.

Side note for future reference: How do you properly utilize the 4 speaker outputs on the amp?

you only need multiple outputs if you are powering door speakers. The amps will typically have something like 400.4 (4 channel amp) or 400.1 (mono block amp)

I know that much. Being that it's a mono amp my question was referring to what configurations are available while using all 4 speaker outputs on a MONO SUB AMP that's capable down to 2 ohms? :)

How do the 4 outputs interact in terms of impedance and watts?
