Were the old mounts where the new bolt head is?
I know you said you were finished.... but you might give some thought to welding those on.

And nice red caliper, ricer :D

Yep, moved them back ~3" for future bigger tire ambition.

I knew I missed something! Don't worry, there are wood blocks holding things up as backup, they shouldn't go anywhere. The rest is just for show.

    Vroom!

2nd time in less than a week I've seen someone do the exact thing I was thinking about doing but hadn't seen anyone do before.

Looking at the body mount relocations available I've been wondering why you can just weld some rectangular tubing to the frame and make a mount off that.

Anything on your design you didn't like or would change?

A U shaped piece would be easier to weld, on my truck with the sliders welded on, the middle body mount was hard to get the nozzle to the inside of the tube. I think it will be structurally fine with just the outside welded though. Could also cut the angle greater between the upper and lower, I used 3" x 1/4" wall square tube and cut the lower part 1" difference from the upper. I used this same approach on the radiator support 2 years ago and it has been working out great since then.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
That has been a worry with body mounts. When ever I wash the truck or working under it I try to clean those out.

it’s not just the front cab one, all of them where the bushing sits were corroded as hell, no way to ensure they are getting cleaned in between where the bushing and frame mount meet. I’ll take a pic of the ones I cut off tonight.

Ya that would be nice to see what yours look like.

Are you going to mount the old one as a trophy?

With a tub job, I would think so.

Shitty. First pic is what the top of every single one looked like. Second is the front cab mount, where it met the frame looked like this too and was flaking chunks.

Nah, try to sell it to someone that wants a project rebuilding it. Then give it away when that doesn’t pan out. Last stop, the recycle bin.

Might be able to take it to a yard for a core. That's what I did with mine.

Going to need to trim some more off the front for the driveshaft and shift rail, but broke my saw all blade.

Driver seat will fit back in just fine, just need a front passenger mount.

Got the case in completely flat, it sits just under 2 inches above the frame. Next will be pulling the bell housing to remove the transmission output bearing to allow the spud shaft to fit in.
