Then after finishing airing up my hood wouldn’t close and line up with the hood pins, and couldn’t see anything wrong. I was worried the front had taken a major hit and was badly bent as the hood was no where near aligned with the headlights, but after some more poking around found that the passenger hood hinge had broken. WTF?

You can tell it’s a shit box because of the way it is :bananadead:

Swapping out the tire I found another crack on the axle leaking oil on the other side of the same upper link mount fixed last year. FML.

Might be time for an axle upgrade.

Awesome, it was a lot of work, but we’ll worth it imo, one of my favorite things I’ve done to the truck.

Three link with a gas tank lift, getting close to finished. New used housing, completely new diff/gears/locker as my old one blew up after the ring gear bolts came loose, new used axles, new bearings/seals etc. Sticking with the same shock mounting positions and 12" shocks. Cycles waaaaay better than the stock link setup, no upper link binding on the gas tank and better pinion angle through travel. Lower links are ~ 34" and upper is ~28", pan hard stayed the same length but used and @eimkeith bracket to level it out. Cut off the drain plug and welded it shut, then added 1/8" to the bottom and 3/16" to the ring gear stickout on the back of the housing. Should be pretty bomber setup.

Gas tank came up ~1.5", I think this is going to make a huuuge difference as that is what I was always getting hung up on before.

Can't wait to see pics of all this. Would love to lift my gas tank up and ditch the stock upper links on the rear axle for a single one. I've already got a 1" body lift so have some extra room to move the gas tank into. Curious how you went about lifting it.

Here is how the gas tank was lifted, cut the three brackets off the frame, raise and reweld. I was a giant pain in the ass.

You can also see the notch in the crossmember for the filler, rear supports for the skid welded to the crossmember, and the forward strap cut welded to the frame

Based on the height of the old skid below the frame to where the new one will be, 1.5-2" in the front and over 2" in the rear, though maybe 1/2" of that is due to the skid being tucked tighter to the tank.

Getting closer spent way too long getting the parking brakes back together and making extenders for the lines to the frame. I’d guess I have another 2-3” of droop over the “stock” suspension setup I was running previously as the parking brake was no where near reaching without moving all the brackets. Can’t wait for a test rally to see how it feels.

Putting the gas tank back in, then finishing up the skid is about all that is left to do. Still can’t decide if I want to drop a new fuel pump in while everything is out, if those fuckers were a little cheaper it would be a no brained, but for $400 I’m not sure . . .

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
Rear suspension and new axle look great bud. That fuel pump is a little pricey.

Yup. Urd has kits to mod your oem pump housing to work with them. Usually done to get a higher flow pump in the for boosted applications but the pumps are much cheaper than oem
