Hey guys, I recently got a new front bumper fabricated by Wits End Fabrication located around the Baltimore BWI area, north of DC. I apologize up front if this is the wrong section to post this.

I don't normally make reviews, but living in the Northern Virginia area, we are quite limited with shops that have fabrication skills. This review is to help give others the opportunity to seek out first class fabrication, should they need it from a solid shop.

    Story:

I have been on the hunt for a good "prerunner" style bumper since July of 2016, originally I had a few fabricating companies that were willing to design a bumper similar to what the common elements many of the west coast tube bumpers have. For those that don't know, this is a skid plate, reinforced tubing, mounts for a fogs, etc. In all honesty this isn't too demanding from a fabricator assuming they are confident in bending tube.

Fast forward to the end of January, it turns out my main fabricator that I had been working with since September of 2016 decided that they couldn't make the bumper and finally scrapped the project. This became an issue for a few reasons...I had already exhausted most fabricators locally, the west coast guys needed my truck, and then the few who were available to make without my truck seemed impossible to ever get any progress going forward with. It is by shear luck a fellow TW member recommended that I check these guys out.

Wits End is a small time shop that is growing quite well for their time in the professional side of fabrication. The owner, whom is Kenny, is a very straight forward individual who understands the business quite well and is very easy to get in touch with. For those not familiar with fabricators, this can be worth its weight in gold for an honest guy from start to finish. So here is how things worked out.

When reaching out to Kenny, I told him my situation for making a "prerunner" style bumper, which he was already quite familiar with. Kenny caught on pretty fast that I had been waiting a good while, and although he didn't need to, but made my project a priority. This required me to drop off my truck, but he was done from start to finish within less than 3 whole working days. Kenny is the sort of individual that will take the elements of what you want to achieve and then form a good picture of what you want to do with his little spin on it. I did provide Kenny with 4 pictures total to show the elements of what I was looking to have on the bumper. Cool thing here, Kenny reinforced the bumper design to be able to fit a winch! I must say for a fabricator, he does have a unique eye that really helps his work stand out. What helps in the process is that he works in coordination with Bmore-kreative who does first class powder coating in all sorts of color and finishings.

After another few days between the sand blaster and the poweder coat guy, the bumper was created! Besides the fact that Kenny had put a cool spin on the bumper, he made it as functional and practical that I could of wanted, which really shows his thought process when dealing with REAL off-road designs. Probably one of the most unqiue things about Kenny is his down to earth approach with his business, he will be the first guy to tell you if he knows someone who can make it for cheaper, than he will point you in their direction. If he can tell from your project that you still seek a "specialist" for the job, then he is more than happy to get involved. The price for the job was more than adequate for what my bumper represents and Kenny not only made the short turn around an option, but delivered within that timeline without issue. Wits End does a fair share of projects ranging from jeeps, to ATVs, to really anything requiring a torch. This was one of his first projects working on a Toyota, which seemed to be a welcome change for him. I really cant say enough good things about these guys!

Feel free to hit me up for anyone who wants more info about my experience, the following pics are of the build progress and final pictures to help capture the build of this.

Question; did you used to fly in 18's? Was you call sign cooter?

Haha yes and no. I was a midshipmen over in the Norfolk/VA beach area and used to get back seat rides with VFA-106. One of the instructors there coined me as Cooter at one time which stuck as Coot. I did go to Old Dominion if that helps.

Ah so it is coming together more now. Did you ever get any backseat rides?

    Random off-topic question:
How do you like those headlights? I was looking into getting them, but was concerned about lousy output/cutoff. I just like the look of the upper and lower bars.

Haha I caught on the SWO part. I assume you are out now? Thanks man for the compliments, its an ever changing beast. Would be cool to meet up sometime, I tend to venture down to the HR area somewhat frequently.

Ghost! I got them partly for the same reasons and just to be different. If you don't want to retro, then I would look elsewhere as the light output is straight shit without new projector lenses. They are pretty easy to retro though, and I even did a write up in my sig!

    Coot,

Might want to change your description of their location. Just outside BWI airport is not southern Maryland.

I hope to see this shop when I go to work. It is in my first due area.
