    Different stages. To get the full amount of travel and best ride at speed you will want to go through the bed. Defined made the kit in stages so if you don't have the money to go all out you can part it together. The only way to not have a bed cage when you go all out is to fab a custom set of shock hoop that run along the bed. But you'd still need a tube the goes across to attach them together. But you could make it removable by using ID tube clamps on it.
