I am making a project out of cherry for a friend. It calls for me to fasten two Marine Corp challenge coins to the wood. I can’t decide how to affix them to the wood. Super glue, liquid nails or 3M tape. Any other ideas?

    Can you inlay the coins?

I’ll probably use a forstner bit to make them flush. Gorilla glue foams up, may end up with a mess.

I second the epoxy. Theres one that has a 5 minute set time. I wouldnt use the gorilla glue as the foam shows when it dries. Ive used it for coins like that once and I had to scrape off the foam when it dried. You also need a dab about half the size of the coin since it spreads when you press it down, just make sure its flush on all sides otherwise you wont be getting it off.

...recess the coins by drilling a shallow hole w/ forstner bit (dia of the coins, 1-3/4"?), ...then drill small hole in the center of each recess to house a rare earth magnet... mix some 5 minute epoxy and use to secure the magnets... this way you could change out the coins in future...

I ended up using 3M tape.

good idea, tape or perhaps velcro ...assuming the challenge coins are two-sided, they can be repositioned (flipped) to show the other face if desired at a later time...
