I’m a pipefitter so I’m around welding and metal fabrication all day. I choose the all leather Puma’s. My job site is a 70+ year old building performing facility maintenance, replacing chilled and hot water coils and piping, repairing high pressure steam and condensate piping. They have held up very well and I’m very happy with them

How are they walking in the snow? The sole doesn't look too aggressive.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Truth be told that would be my one and only gripe with them. I actually used them for hiking the woods for a while but finally stopped as they weren't quite as good as I would like for hiking. They aren't flat out dangerous or anything, but they also don't inspire confidence.

I think over the weekend I'll be stopping in to various stores trying on a bunch of different boots.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I think I found boots for the winter, composite toe also by Wolverine with a more aggressive thread.
I live in Connecticut, we could get anything from a dusting to 3 feet of snow.

    Home for lunch.
DO NOT BUY "Pit Boss" boots. They are too heavy to be walking around in.
I'm getting rid of these once my Wolverine's come in (tomorrow).

My feet are hurting right now and all I did was straighten out a tool/parts room that is about 8'x6'.
Imagine if I had to walk all day. Those new boots can't come soon enough.

Most boots need a few days at least to break in. Keep that in mind with the new Wolverines.
My Irish Setters are like slippers to me right of the box.

That's how the wolverines are for me, 12 hour comfort right out of the box.

The pit boss boots may break in but like I said, they are heavy.

I need something that is more of a hiking boot with composite toe.

Definitely late to the party, but I've got a pair of the I-90 Romeo's from Wolverine. First and only pair of slip ons, but they're great so far. How do you like your pair of boots? I have a strong feeling that Wolverine's might be my new go to from now on, and I've worn everything from bates to danner, belleville, redwings, even dewalt (honestly not as horrible as I originally thought they would be)

I’m pretty happy with my Redwing King Toe’s I got about a month ago. (Free cleaning and laces for life too).
I used to wear Keen, but gave up after the last two paírs fell apart way too quick and their customer service sucked.

I've heard so many good things about Redwings, but just couldn't find a pair that fit me well and comfortably. And as I'm sure everyone who wears boots with any sort of frequency knows, that's just a death sentence for your feet. I guess they're just not for everyone. Save me the price tag though, so silver linings maybe?

Want a quick "break in" for a new pair of boots.

    put on your socks
    put on your boots.
fill a tub with warm water to a depth deeper than the boot's height
    stand in the water.
    allow the boots to saturate.
wear them for the rest of the day
when dry, use a good leather conditioner, something like mink oil
