worn out steering rack

    my 99 2.7 has a worn out steering rack. anybody know if you can rebuild it or if its just easier to buy a new one. i found one at trail gear for 399. and some on google shopping for like 250.

    You sure it's the rack, or just the bushings? I replaced my steering rack bushings with polyurethane one's and it's good as new now. Lot cheaper than a new rack too.

    Look at build!
    The seals were gone in mine and the passenger side boot had 2 quarter sized hole in it pouring fluid costing me around a quart every 2 days so i replaced the whole rack and both outer tierods for 320, install myself.

    So if I don't fix this for a while how will I be affected? Will I die or just have loose steering?

    just keep toping it off and you should be fine till you can fix it, irode with mine leaking for 4-6 months just had to add fluid like crazy and it finally got so bad to where i was using a quart a day, but just dont let it go dry or it will screw your PS pump up to
