I recently replaced the bumper cover on mine to uncover some of the little treats the previous owner had done to it that I couldn't find when I was buying...

bent frame behind bumper - he replaced the bumper and ignored the frame to make it seemed like nothing happened.

skid plate - beat the crap outta this thing, surprised it's still hanging on. I'm gonna be putting a slick red one down there

tow hitch not attached properly - didn't have it bolted on the right way, so I had to fix it.

All this and I'm sure I'll be finding more as I replace with mods...

Anyone else have any joys their previous owner left for them that they didn't originally see?

Found out after I bought the truck that they took the jack kit.

Tow point at the front had been literally ripped off and the frame is bent.

They had put in aftermarket tail lights and the wiring is a disaster.

Plastic bedliner was in to cover up an extremely piss-poor job on a DIY liner.

Several 1/2 inch holes were found randomly drilled into the inside of the tailgate.

That's Kentucky for you I guess...

Guess I was lucky, just had craptastic autolite plugs and oil filter and the carpet has a coupla oopsies that thankfully are covered by the floormats. The ones I'm most worried about are the turd easter eggs that came from the factory.......folding tailgate, crap ass leafs, possible motor fallout due to shitty frame mounts for it, frame rust, shitty axle seals, shitty rr main seal, voodoo radios, leaking cowl seal, etc etc etc

i found out that that truck had been painted and has had a window broken out , and had the drivers side speaker wires cut up to wire subs (fixed by me) and the tow mount that connects to the frame was bent

other than that everything rlse has been done by me
no worries eventually i plan to make it in to a rock crawler:)

How does Kentucky have anything to do with what's wrong with your truck other than it might be from there?

I knew it was there before I bought it but for some reason the moron who had the truck before me decided he didn't like the interior color I guess so he rattle canned parts on the whole interior of the truck. Top of the dash, spots on both door panels, both kick panels and overspray on the carpet to a light gray. The dealership knocked a good amount of $ off for it so I bought it anyway knowing I could fix it myself....

Found what appeared to be a lot of bloodstains inbetween the passenger seat and the center console.

Just the fact that it was on the original timing belt and water pump at 156,000 miles when I went to change it. I bought it at 146,000. The water pump was leaking so badly it had encrusted the timing belt and front crank seal in dried up coolant. It took an hour and a half to clean all that out of there. Other than that, the previous owner (original owner) took very good care of my truck as far as paint, interior, and general maintenance go.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
My truck didnt have any standard millage maintenance except replacement of timing belts (and of course oil changes). Has 93,000 miles and I just replaced the original spark plugs yesterday (MAN what a difference that made). Ill be bringing it in for its 90K maintenance this week.

Not to mention he put 120k on it in the 4 years he owned it. I've only put 30 in the 4 years since...

HOw is the front bumper suppose to fit relative to the front fenders? I have an 03. and visually I can see that the bumper is situated outward relative to the fender on the driver side but is slightly inward on the passenger side.

Then again, from the pics I've seen the bumper + fender fit on the 01-04 Tacomas have never been consistent..

no hidden surprises, but the previous owner had hauled somethingin the bed like paint or something, but it WILL NOT come off. i guess it was on his/her clothes or hands and there is a spot on the seatbelt buckle and the seatbelt adjuster, and a few small specs on the steering wheel.

i also found i had a hidden block heater, so i guess that was a plus, but not from a previous owner.

Same here. Thank god for weekend fishermen. Sat in a garage, regular maint. all at the dealer, brand new tires on it when I bought it...

My biggest complaint about the previous owner is that he had a dog and let it on the front seat with muddy feet. Original upholstery is still stained a bit, even after multiple cleanings. And my AC smells like wet dog if I don't use it every so often.
