I have the JBL too and have noticed if you want the volume to be above 35 or so you need to turn the bass and mid almost all the way down or it will begin to distort and you get that hollowish sound in the doors when the bass hits. Afraid I'll blow the speakers if I leave the settings too high. Same with you?

For me I think I've pretty much left it at stock settings, and usually pump it up to 35-38 on the highway with windows down, without issue. The only hollowish sounds I get are from empty Monster cans rattling around in the cup holder near the door speakers.

I would hardly link a noob innocently posting a new thread to a mob pissing on the walls of a bar. The context and intent of each are not even in the same arena.

Lots of forums for popular models take a giant shit. No immunity for a Tacoma based one.

If a new member actually saw a home page with 20 identical threads then they probably wouldn't make a new thread. But that isn't how it works. There are probably plenty of people who have never seen the home page either.

Just be cool with the new guys. Give them a chance instead of decided what they should post for them.

Sorry for your troubles Herby, but I think its just your radio having issues not tacomas since I also have a 3rd gen Taco and I get strong stations when I leave home for up to 45 miles away, flat land that is, but it's still good. I have the standard entune, no JBL or gps, but I have the "good one" on my T4R and it does the same.

My suggestion is try another dealer while its still under warranty and if you really don't like it, its a perfect excuse to go with a great aftermarket unit and there's plenty of help here to guide you on that.
It's not fair I know, mine works, but sometimes its just how it is...

    Cheers!

My mistake then. Nobody told me I had to stop trying to be a decent dude when I turned 40.

Can you PM me the full memo for my records?

I'd liken it more to an off-road business.

Guy walks in and ask about a lift (at a place that does lifts) and all the regulars jump out and yell at him to do his own damn research and then promptly call him a troll. Guy walks out, never comes back and tells all his buddies how big the assholes are at said business.

Or all the regulars can keep their comments to themselves move on and let the helpful people hopefully chime in.

No issues with my radio reception. OP should try driving a new GMC. Horrible radios in both the '14 and '15 sierra at my work. Eventually had to have the '15 radio replaced at the dealership because it was just so bad.

I believe you OP, AFAIC, Toyota has cheap sub standard audio unless you spring for the top O' the line sound system. I think Kraco did a better job in the 80s with their aftermarket junk.

My 1998 Sonoma with the stock sound system sounded better even after almost 18 years..........and it picked up stations much better.

Have you checked to see if it's set for HD radio? If so your reception will blow balls.

If your comparing satalite radio to standard AM/FM thats a factor to consider as well.

If your connecting ipods and phones and have volume issues it may be you need to adjust your volume on the devices used to a higher sound setting.

Mine works just fine. I've had extremely minimal signal loss and the times I did I was in the mountains.

Cheapo SR Econ model here. I live in NW Arkansas and listen to Tulsa OK stations on mine. 132 miles away. Very good reception *Shrug*

I was speaking in generalities. Not really aimed at anyone.

I also agree with you that it helps to lurk awhile before starting threads but that might be from experience on other forums.

The first goddamn page has one guy going off about how noobs should have the ability to start a thread bestowed upon them by those who deem them worthy. That's followed by somebody calling the OP a troll.

That's all in the first page. You really think the majority of people would stick around if that was their first experience here? I don't.

I think the JBL is pretty decent, but it was not available with a Manual Trans for whatever reason, l would have got it in my truck if I could have.

That is kinda weird it's not offered on a MT. But I'm perfectly happy with the JBL sound. For me it was a must have.
