What's the risk of jacking up my engine or my warranty? I know the first thing to do is sit down and read that mother, so I'm not out looking for legal advice; but has anyone ever had any troubles because of it?

The only reason not to would be if the money you're using to pay for it is stolen marked bills, of which you stole from a coke dealer, and if you spend them the secret service will steal your food.

Unless this ^^^ is true, do it.

No reason not to. The price is recouped many times over by not having to buy new filters.
