I'd avoid using hub spacers when I could...

The proper wheels with the correct BS'ing and offset
would be less sprung mass and offer longer hub bearing service.

Then only spacers that you should run with stock rims are hub centric as stock rims are hub centric rims.

The thin wafer spacers are NOT a good idea especially on the front tires as the studs on the fronts are already very short.

get good hub centric ones from Spidertraxx or Allpro and get Extended lugs!! These grab much more of the wheel studs and increase their safetly.

Good spacers are not that bad to run. I wheel pretty regularly and have had no issue at all as well as lots of other members. Hell there are lots of LT guys running them and if they hold up to that kind of beating..don't see how they wont for a normal driver.

    ET vs standard lugs

i have allpro 1.5'' spacers and 4'' BS rims. I still rub like a bitch with 33x12.5s..but thats due to the 2.5'' BS :p

    my 96 was hub centric.

    :notsure: Maybe a year thing?

Either way, it is important you get the right spacers

No rims. It has to do with your rims not the hubs.

The spacers are either lug or hub centric.

so yer saying that you use a hub centric spacer
on lug centric hub mounting ?

Sounds more like you have chevy hub centric wheels
and you must use specific spacers to fit the wheels you're using ?

I'll admit... I don't know much about these hub spacers
'cause I don't have much interest for them.

    I might guess then,
that no one makes a lug centric to hub centric hub spacer ?

No, i had stock toyota rims.

    Hub centric are like this
    Resampled_2011-08-06_15-55-49_49_9131afd1bcda383fd4540f1db8e12e344a1f4049.jpg

The middle pops out so the wheel centers itself, hence hub centric.

Lug centric center the wheel of the lugs.

^ welp... those look lug centric to hub centric to me...

Don't the lugs nuts holding the spacer to the drum
seat and center the spacer ?

Tacoma wheels... I know for fact...
are lug centric in their mounting.

    what wheels are they ?

I have never seen a Toyota engineered/oem wheel fit in that manner

Welp... as long as you can get them to balance good...
    I suppose that won't kill ya :p
