Yeah the Car PC route was my initial plan for this truck, but the simplicity of the iPad was what really made up my mind. Pretty sure I met with the Pixen manufacturers at CES this year. I wasn't all that impressed with the units that I saw on display. I'd rather have a dedicated, proven DSP running my sound and I can go all digital to it with the iPad setup.

They range from $325 - $445 for the mount / trim setup, then the wiring / electronics on top of that.

    The pixen unit is dope,
The dsp works very very good and for the average user its almost to much of a unit. Its not a audison BIT one but it sure does get the job done.

But again, each to their own

I'm interested in installing an Android tablet in my 3rd gen. Can't find anyone that's done it yet or that has a bezel for removable tablet (still not set on a specific tablet but thinking of a Nexus since it's stock Android) I'm interested in a bezel but would most likely have to do a hidden head unit since I don't want to give up functionality of making calls through Bluetooth and everything else... Unless there is a way to route all of this into the tablet...

That's the main reason I'm waiting
