Would buy them both again wish I still had the Gen1. Love the Gen.2 but now the three teen age grandkids living with us the Gen1 would have made a good going to school vehicle for them and give the oldest something to learn on.

Cement is a beautiful color, if it had been available when I ordered mine I probably would have chosen it over MGM.

Love the truck. Love the community. I would, however, change the color to quicksand or cement.

I love the mgm too. A friend has one but he said it's a bitch to keep it looking clean

Actually lived through this situation. My wife totalled her '17 DCLB OR quicksand a short while back. We are planning to get a bigger camper and decided on a full size. The truck only had 17k miles on it and we got screwed by our insurance. If we hadn't been planning on getting a bigger camper we would have made them replace it. That would have been fun, it had almost every option you can get on an OR including the technology package.

This is my opinion as well. I bought a MGM but it was my fourth color choice behind Quicksand, Cement and Super White in that order......

The only thing I would change is this time I would get a 4x4.
I originally wanted one but my dad talked me out of it because my suburban is a 4x4. I listened to him and I regret it because some places I like to fish require 4x4 and I can’t take my taco there. So I’ll have to settle with the suburban when I go to those places.

I’d buy mine again, she’s been an amazing treat!

But, I would do a little more comparison with a 4Runner. In the ideal, I’d love to find a good woman who would either want a 4Runner or Tacoma so I could enjoy both...

Yes, in a heartbeat! But now I have to wait 15 or so years as I usually keep my Toyota pickups that long.

That's the ultimate solution right there. Luckily my wife is awesome and wants a 4runner so that'll be our next vehicle once our old trusty Matrix dies.

I have a 2016 Tacoma, I would buy it again for sure. I had high expectations from Toyota, and my truck has met every single one. No reliability issues of ANY kind, starts every single day, and everything works flawlessly. I have been slowly modifying it when I get time, and so far I have a 3" lift, 1.25" wheel spacers and am running 33" tires. I've had this setup on the truck for around 15,000 miles and have also had zero problems with this as well.

u wish u could ride likes this.

On a site dedicated to these trucks almost 20% wouldn’t buy again. That’s alot. Tells me the real world figures would be much higher

I haven't had a Tacoma since 2001. It was a 96 stick and I loved it. Tree did not. I have had a gmc and a 05 tundra. Got a 2017 TRD double cab and love it. Most will complain about shifting and yes it's different. That's due to mpg rating. All you have to do is put your foot into the pedal or turn on the power mode. Is it the perfect truck? No. But it works for me. Look at your needs. I drive to work every 3rd day. 24 miles one way. Days off I do a lot of in town running. Have 3 kids and a wife. If I need I can get all in the truck but that's what the van is for. For me since it's just me 90% of time the double cab is just fine. Gas is better than a full size and parking is a breeze. I did put an ARE cap on for dogs and weather resistance. I like the TRD since roads are crap and pot holes are out there. If you look at all new trucks the transmission is geared toward fuel efficiency. Toyota included. Put your foot down or use the ect button. Lord forbid you have to move or push a dang button. Just the way it is now a days. This is the only small truck I would buy. Dependability baby. I have also seen some bitching about no power seats! Good god lazy asses pull a lever and move the seat! Just my opinion. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Blue collar all the way!

I got better all around gas mileage with 3 second gens than I do with my 3rd gen. It's not even close. I think my all-around driving habits must be in the minority. Just a bad combination of routes and speeds.

And I've seen people averaging better mileage with a DCSB 4x4 lifted 2.7 AT than I got with my reg cab 2wd 5MT 2.7, somehow.

It’s not a perfect truck but it is a badass truck and far better than any of the other trucks in the same class. Although sometimes I think maybe a different color would have been better, still I would have chosen the same truck with same specs. I absolutely love the truck and would buy it again in a heartbeat.
