You mean like Timothy McVey, the coward who murdered 168 innocent Americans? Took the lives of 16 children that never had the chance to experiance life?
Or, in Rowanda where one tribe butchered another with machete's (Like 300,000). Sierra Leone where children are mutilated by those who feel diamonds are worth more than human life?
The thread started with a hypothetical question asking who might give up their guns...some would, some won't. The genie will never go back into the bottle...we're stuck with what we have.
One thing is certain, murders like those in ABQ, LA, Chicago, Phila, Atl will continue. Guns n ammo are cheap.:(

That's exactly what I'm talking about. A bat can be just as deadly as a gun in the hands of the determined. It's not the tool, it's the will.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
    not willingly.

though many "bad" things become possible with guns, many "good" things have also been made possible. i'm not sure that the settlers of this country could have survived without them...many would've died of starvation. and i bet it's damned hard to outshoot a Blackfoot or Cherokee with a bow. (disclaimer* i'm not saying that slaughtering the native americans was a good thing, but had we not, they wouldve driven us back into the oceans from whence we came once they discovered our motives) not to mention the fact that we'd be a bunch of british subjects without them. i know a few families that would currently go hungry or have to get food stamps if they didn't have firearms to stock their freezers with.

to take guns from the citizenery of the United States because of gun violence is in my opinion a similar mentality to stopping production of electricity because it creates polution. or making 50 million kids wear helmets on bicycles because 10 dumbasses manage to smash in their own skulls riding them.

not everything in our existance needs to be "safe". IMHO, life would be pretty fucking boring if there was never any "unnecessary" danger in it. no matter how hard we try as a society...we will never live forever as individuals. life's a journey...take a chance! i would rather live a short life with some freedom, than a century without.

Phh, I live in California and I'd go down fighting. I didn't spend 2 years oversees for this country just to have them take away my firearms; so they can kiss my ass if they ever try to take my guns!

You gotta understand that you can never satisfy liberals. Give 'em one thing (thinkin' you'll mollify them) they will always DEMAND more.

The gay "marrige" issue in CA comes to mind (since a decision came down on Prop 8 today). First all they wanted was to be just be accepted, people did. Then they wanted to be able to adopt...people let 'em. Then they want their lifstyle taught to our children as acceptable...Sadly that is happening in some states...Need I go on??

Don't be fooled into thinking you can satisfy these gun grabbin scum...You are just fooling yourself !

I would never give up my hand guns, they were purchased legally, registered and paid for,
Now how many of you really believe that all the gun violence in this country is done with registered guns?

Each time there's a mass killing I think of the children who may have lost a mother or father in a senseless action by a deranged individual that was allowed to purchase a gun. Most gun owners are good, law abiding American citizens, but then there are others that play God and take innocent lives.
My youngest son got on the school bus today and I was proud to see him off to his 1st day of HS. I wonder how children had their hearts broken last week...maybe they didn't even have a chance to say goodby to their dad. Sad...very sad
I'd give 'em up if it'd make a difference, but it won't :(

Criminals are supposed to give up their guns to the government right now. It is illegal in every sense of the word for a criminal or convicted felon to possess a firearm. See how well they give up their guns?

Just a bunch of old crap
Has anyone here actually had someone even attempt to take their guns? What if you were convicted of a felony and were forced to give them up? What if you pull into work on a sunny Thursday morning and get surrounded by SUVs and FBI agents with guns drawn? I bet the real answers would be much different.

No, unless they intend on giving me full price for what I paid.

If we do get to that point though, the government won't be worth a fuck and a revolution will ensue.
